We have a local fire company that used a Scrambler for decades. I used to drive by it to and from work. Even stopped to ask them if it was just for show ir really used. And i it was for sale. They said they used it for water rescues in the potomac and the local rapids. It was cool and NOT for sale. I have not seen it recently. I hope someone is enjoying it rather than letting it rot.

Ken (the contact for the listing) was able to send me a few more pictures of the Jeep. He also said that "everything that is bolted to the Jeep comes with it including the axes on the sides" although they have been removed in the pics he sent. He also said that if there was anything else the buyer wanted, such as the hand tools or other accesories that they could be negotiated. Here are the pics he sent:

Here's your second place option BW. ;)

It's hard to tell from the pictures, but it has probably got $2-4K value in the fire-fighting apparatus mounted in the bed. I'd say that selling price is probably spot-on based on the low miles, straight body and fire equipment.

If I needed another fire truck, I'd likely have pushed the bidding upwards and probably regretted it later! :) Those types of "decommissioned" 4x4 Jeep firetrucks are great for nostalgia, while also being able to utilize them for farm use such as burning ditches or irrigation subsidy, all-the-while maintaining the low mileage for many, many years.

BW, maybe Sandblast 2013?

Yes. I bought it. Couldn't let such a pretty vehicle potentially get chopped up. Leaving it completely as-is. Unmolested save for any modifications made in turning it into a working fire vehicle. (Even though I hate the Smokey The Bear graphics.)

Currently negotiating what all goes with it. Plan on picking it up in a couple of weeks.

All in all, I think it was a good buy.

Jambo- first off, awesome. U definitely have the bug.. I mean disease! :) what are your plans for transport ? I am picking up a j-10 in zanesville Ohio this weekend or next. I would imagine I am heading past this fire 8 with an empty trailer and I recall you are in or near Ohio ? I wouldnt mind caring for this baby a few hundred miles if you weren't planning on getting it yourself.

Eric - You da man! Let me think on it. I was planning on trailering it from PA home so I could make sure everything that needed to be on her was... But the seller, Ken, seems like a really good guy... The rigs about 9.5 hours from me, with Zanesville being about 3... That's a mighty tempting offer to be sure...

I'm pretty sure with your new toy you can get some better bargains at this falls swap meet. Nothing like a fire hose negotiation. Or you could provide free car washes. :)

First off, I hate you.

Second, if you want me to not hate you, you'd better post 2,435,755 pictures of this CJ8... anything less than this and I will still hate you.

Third, you'd better immediately start a dedicated thread for this CJ8. In it, you will post the above aforementioned 2,435,755 pictures of this CJ8.

Finally, I hate you.

:D

Now... on the serious side, what a wonderful purchase. I absolutely fell in love with this Scrambler. I'm really glad it went to you since I know it will be taken care of. Please post a ton of pictures before you touch it... and then, as you do the restoration, take more pictures.

Well done!

Toby, I thoroughly blame you for this...

Umm it's 1:00 am here and I just stopped at a rest stop to get some zzzz s ...

Everything went well Jambo met me around 8pm we swapped onto his trailer, loaded the j truck then went to a local pub to grab a beer, some food and talk jeeps. BS'd there till almost midnight.

So I guess this rest stop is an hour or so east of Zanesville and I am roughly 7 hours from home. ;)

Zzzzzzzz

Got home at about 4am this morning. The trailer was all over the place at any speed over 50, plus (as the officer told me :rotfl: ) my rental trailer didn't have any tail lights working. But it's now 4 hours later and I am not rested at all and am already out in the 90-degree weather checking her out in the daylight.

Special thanks to JerseyJeeps for the Scrambler train!

Starting a new thread under builds and restorations... Not a million photos... yet... but I'l give you first impression from my driveway...
