I guessing they went overseas. Any NOS stuff gets bought up by restorers over in Europe now (and MAN do they do some nice restorations!)

Maybe, but Marchals are French and just looking it seems like there are a crapload of NOS Marchals kicking around on eBay in Europe.

my nos 50's willys overland emblems sold for just under a grand a year ago. just one set that said willys overland. and the guy drove about 600 miles to get them. said he didnt want them shipped. just gotta get the right thing i guess.

Another notable was Polarfires water fording kit a couple years back. I don't remember the the final price, but I think it was over $1000.

I understand paying a premium for NOS items, especially rare NOS items, but chrome bumperettes can be found all over the place in good condition for less than $100 per pair. For NOS I could see $200, I could even understand $300 but over that is crazy money in my mind. It is what happens when two bidders have their heart set on something and emotion takes over in an auction.
