The beer thread has been awesome, so anyone out there enjoy cigars with a glass of scotch or whiskey? I keep some cigars, but I don't smoke one very often so I figured a thread like this might be interesting to hear about more smokes and see some pics of where you enjoy them. More often I have a glass of scotch or whiskey by itself but these go so well together that I'm putting them in one thread.

To start it off, I didn't think about this early enough to take a photo of the cigar, but I had a Romeo y Juliet Reserva Real with a glass of Macallan Friday evening. Perfect start to the weekend.

Cigar was a maduro robusto and is now easily one of my favorites. Nice medium full flavor and creamy. Going a pic online.

Macallan is one of my favorite scotches. Hammock at sunset was a great way to enjoy them.

Lets hear what y'all are smoking and drinking.

Not big on Cigars, but I do enjoy my pipes with various types of tobacco!

I was thinking this morning of wanting to start a scotch and cigar thread, funny.
Lagavulin is my current scotch of choice. Nice and smoky.

Not often I see a bourbon I've never come across... interesting name.

I've stayed away from pipes because, like cigars, I know it's something I would like and cigars are pushing it enough with the wife. ;)

I have a bottle of that right now, just about done with it. It's really smoky with some bite to it, easily the smokiest one I've ever bought. Nice change of pace from what I typically have around (my other bottle right now is that Macallan I mentioned, which is smooth as all get out compared to this.)

Now I'm fascinated. There's two places listed that sell it here in Ann Arbor. How expensive is it?

I agree, Van Winkle is about the best there is, but EXTREMELY hard to get. I live about twenty miles from where Van Winkle Bourbon is made, and I can't even get any. Over the last 15 years, I was able to get 2 bottles of it. The family sold the business to a bigger distillery in the last few years though. Supposedly, they will fill a little more of the demand. Elijah Craig is my next favorite. Try the 12 or the 18 year old. For a less expensive Bourbon, I like Old Forrester Select.

I like a good Cuban cigar when I can get one but I keep Tatiana cigars and a bottle of Crown Royal XR handy at all times. I smoke Moontrance bourbon cigarillos on a daily basis. If you have never tasted the XR you don't know what your missing. The cheapest I can find it is $150.00 a bottle. Plain or over ICE, don't screw it up with water or Coke.

So, a very good friend of mine has an uncle in Ireland who owns a couple of pubs. He goes quite often to see him and always comes back with at least a bottle or two of wonderful scotch. He commented to his uncle that we can't get those types over here in the states. My friend shows up to work one morning and gives a few of us each a bottle of some of the smoothest scotch I've ever had. Turns out that when he got home from work the night before, he found cases of scotch on his front porch. He calls the uncle in Ireland and asks what all the scotch is about and the uncle says the distributor shipped the bar order to my friend instead of a couple of bottles the uncle meant to ship. He said to keep it as the shipping back would kill him financially. A good friend to have.
