Wiring up tail lights- i'm confused

I'm installing new taillights and my electronics skill is very limited.
Went to NAPA, got the OEM replacement, square light from Grote. My wires from the Jeep are white/green/white with tracer. The new light is yellow/green/brown.

What matches up to what?

Is it grounded to the body (which i know is not ideal)?

Should simple regardless of the wire colors... there should be a rubber 3 pin connector at each end and it can only be connected one way. If your new lights don't have the connector, I'd return them and get different parts.

White is Tail lights (Both sides)
White with tracer is Back up lamp (Both sides)
Green is Right turn and hazard (Passenger side)
Green with tracer is Left turn and hazard (Drivers side)
Earth/ground is the tub and make sure its a clean connection or an earth fault will make your lights do whatever they want!.

Good luck
