Sorry. I know it's a complete cj8 build up. I just figured I would start there since I was working on and asking questions mostly on the drivetrain. Well atleast for now. LOL.
thanks,

well it's between the frame rails.
Well it's between the frame rails. But it didn't go without a fight.
Problems:
-One man operations with a cherry picker.
-A chain.
-And trying to take everything in one trip.
But I won. Yeah. O and I bought a load lever. So you can say I cheated.
And it fits like it came that way from the factory.
Other then the fact that I had to cut the pinion axle bracket on the frame.
And I'm going to have to get creative with my hand grinder to get the ac unit back
onto the motor. the new motor mounts and the ac bracket hit.

Congrats! I remember the feeling of accomplishment getting the new motor in and mounted I have to say that those are good looking motors.
On the thread move, it was everything about the frame and all back at the beginning that had me thinking you were going through the whole build. If you want me to move it back, no problem!

thanks! I wish it was in for good. Unfortunately it's only in for mock up purposes! So I will have to pull it back out for paint and such.
No big deal on the thread move. Just explaining myself.LOL
thanks again,

summer of jeepen
well work on the cj8 has been slow. I am still in the process of figuring out
if I should go driverside drop transfer case/ front axle or buy an atlas and get 1" of clearance on the passenger side of the trans pan. I am wondering if anyone out there in jeep land has any pic's of a atlas transfercase bolted to a 4l60e passenger side drop? One way or the other I have to spend money. I just want to make sure it's the right step. The only new progress I have made on the cj8 is I have the body mounting kit from daystar to be put on and I have a set of 33" bfg mt's under her right now.
On the other hand I have been busy with the big yellow cj7. I took the 3" body lift off(which made a huge difference), I've added an overflow bottle from the radiator, I am waiting on a stainless steel dash, and I have big daddy offroad rocksliders sitting in my garage just waiting to be bolted on. and some other things here and there for the cj7! I don't have time for pic's but I will update here soon. this has been another busy summer! :beerchug:
keep jeepen,

Are you still looking for 15x10 wheels? If so I have some, just not sure what the shipping would cost from Central Texas to Ohio.

fiberglass body?
Well I started to place my body mounts in the frame and noticed that there is a huge gap
between the second to last body mount (towards the rear of the frame) and the frame.I
know on the steel tube there is a support channel that is like 5"-8" inches tall that is mounted
to the tub and spreads the width of the steel jeep tub. And with that support bracket there
is no gap. I am wondering what any of you have done with your jeeps that you replaced the
steel body for fiberglass(pic's please). It's only two of the mounts. But I hate to have
two 5-8" mounts and the rest 1".
thanks,

I love UPS
That's right I love when Ups and Fedex show up with things I've ordered.
Today was a good day. I ordered an atlas II for the cj8 build to overcome
the front driveshaft clearance and it showed up today.
I did end up deciding to go driver side drop and I am now on a mission to find a front
axle. I know what I'm looking for now and I just have to find it. I decided to go DS drop
after making a cardboard and then a plywood template. I started off with cardboard and
I bolted a yoke up to it and the card board was to weak to hold the metal yoke. But the
cardboard cut out gave me an ideal of what 9.5" center on center(front input shaft to
front output shaft/yoke) transfer case would be. So then I went on to AA's website and
got all the dimensions I need to make myself a plywood template that I could bolt up to
the transmission and bolt on the front yoke and front driveshaft. And after that why fit it
driver side drop transfer case here I come.
pic's of atlas, dana 300, cardboard cutout 9.5" centers, and my plywood atlas template.
And here is the atlas II up in the cj8
rear view in the jeep:

I know. I think I can fit a football size driveshaft now. And thanks I had to make
sure I couldn't go passenger side drop. And before I spent the money on a Atlas
transfercase I wanted to make sure it was going to work. because I thought that
the extra inch of clearance the atlas gives you would clear the pan on the passengerside. So I made the
template and found out I was wrong. I would have been throwing money at the problem.
And I can't afford to be throwing that kind of money around! If I were to outboard my spings
to fit a larger axle it would have worked but it still would have been close. That gm 4l60e
was just designed to have a driverside drop transfer case behind it.So now I'm going driverside drop and I
have to find a front axle and make a skid plate. but I know it will be functional and right! I could have done
a few other things like ds drop np205(but it has a bad 4l ratio), np241(but I did not want a chain driven transfer case),
flipped dana 300 ( I think it just looks weird), or stak dana 300 housing (but after you buy the housing and 4:1 you could have bought
a atlas done. And the stak replacement housing you would have to have to disassemble the old housing and reassemble the new).
So the atlas was the answer for me. finally onto the next stage of this build. LOL

O and how can I forget. I removed my 3" body lift off my cj7, added a new ss dash, big daddy off road rock sliders,
Mopar rubicon 4.5" tj fender flares, and a custom roll cage from "shop teach" on www.jeepsunlimted.com.
check it out:
