I have ordered two sets in the past and purchased both sets from Austin Jeeps. The last set of Honey stripes I ordered had shade differences between the decal "overlaps" within the kit (lower rocker). Has anybody had any luck with Phoenix Graphics or Collins Bros kits? All these kits are about the same price. If you have any suggestions, I would greatly aprreciate it. I am looking at pruchasing a set for a 1986 laredo in honey. I have always heard Austin's Jeep's (Mike's) decals were better than Phoenix. Does anybody have opinion or preference on this topic?

Thanks,

Phoenix Graphics. They advertise on the site. The ones you buy from retail shops probably come from them anyhow.

Be careful what they make their kits from. I used Goldeneagle graphics. They use 3M Scotchcal. The sign guy near me said that is the best stuff to use. He put them on for me and they were made perfect. They were also alittle cheaper than the rest. I also got a call back from Goldeneagle to see how I made out with the stripe kit. I bought the tri-color blue 84 Scrambler kit.

I have never actually put any of them on yet but I have a set of the '81-'82 stripes from Phoenix Graphix waiting for mine. I worked with them to help create J10 Honcho decals and during that process I felt they were very committed to making a high quality, accurate product. I know others on here have used their product with good results.

I haven't yet bought from Phoenix Graphics either, but I'm working with them to create a set of accurate reproduction Jambo hood decals from a set of NOS originals I picked up from a member here. I agree they are very detail-oriented and are trying to put out the most authentic product possible.

While we're on this subject, can anyone confirm if the aftermarket decals are "over-laid" with the different colors within the decals; if you run your finger across them, do you feel a seem where the colors transition? If so, is each manufacturer the same condition?

Markenss Monster.....The original factory decals are not "overlaid" you should not feel a seem. The colors are not overlaid on top of one another. I have heard that 3M makes the best adhessive and suggest looking for a kit with 3M backing.

My Phoenix kit was 3M and there are no ridges to be felt where the colors come together. My hood decal was creased and they sent a new one out right away. I was very happy with them.

FWIW, I was once told by a CSR at one of the major dealers, that the rights to make the decals is owned by Phoenix. Apparent it was bought when AMC went buy buy. I don't know this to be fact, I just know that is what I was told and it was after a sale so I wouldn't expect it to be a massaging of the truth.

To my knowledge, Phoenix Graphix uses large inkjet style printers to print the different colors so there is no "overlay" or ridges from different layers of vinyl. The kit I have waiting to be installed on my Scrambler is 3M with no "ridges"

So while we are talking decals My overlander is a 84 chestnut brown what colours are the decals on the Phoenix site the 83-84 sets.or which one looks the best?
