YJ steering column in CJ-8

This kinda goes along with the post on the 4.0/AW4 linkage question. Assuming we can still use the column shift with the AW4 has anyone ever tried using a YJ sterring column in their Scrambler ?? This would not only give me the column shift but also the tilt/cruise/high-beam on the column. I've heard the YJ column might be about an inch too long but would that matter with my 3" suspension lift ?
Any thoughts ??
