SOA Charity Scrambler-Assembly Part II - Kansas

SOA Charity Scrambler-Assembly Part II - Kansas

Just thought we would start another thread so the world can see the next phase on the SOA Charity Scrambler.

The Scrambler and numerous parts have been in Thayer, KS at our (Jason-chiefwaho & Ken-pappywaho)
workshop since Moab. We are finally starting to make some visible progress so here goes.

A lot of you all have sent parts or money.
We are getting those parts ready for assembly and the cash will be used for parts and needed supplies.
We are also soliciting some vendors for needed items.

We met Scott Mine in Wichita, KS on his return from Moab to off load the Scrambler and take it to Thayer.

What a chore, it took a few nights and our wheelin buddy Dave (body shop owner)
helped us get the doors, top, and windshield frame fit to the tub.

The hood and fender were going to need some attention so we thought
it would be less work to use a hood and fender we had from an CJ7.

Weekend update – Just when we think we are finally making some progress our illustrious Moab body shop
(won’t mention by name) bites us in the A$$ again. They were supposed to have painted it the original
color, Olympic White, but took it upon themselves to paint it a newer Chrysler Bright White. Ok no big deal;
John N. got the code for the paint they shot. We had paint mixed to that code so we could re-shoot their
shotty work (hood, fenders, cowl, tailgate and doors). After shooting the inner fender, underside of hood,
tailgate and misc small parts we noticed the paint color was not matching the tub. We will now be sanding
out the rest of the tub and taking it to our wheelin buddy Dave’s (owns his own bodyshop)
to have him shoot it in his paint booth. I'll owe him a big time favor.

fixed door cracks (reinforced with angle iron)

preping the door for primer

tub ready to go on the trailer and haul to the bodyshop

Fit the drives shafts to make sure they were ok and then got them stripped and ready for paint.

Somebody (pappywaho) just can't stand and engine that is not spotless
He is stripping off components so he can paint the block.

Sorry to hear about the paint trouble, you guys are really going the extra mile on this. What can we do to thank your body shop buddy for the help with this?

We ought to at least send the guy some hats and shirts or something...

I need to do this and finally have a welder... what size angle iron did you use and did you just cut a piece to span the crack and tack it on from behind or what? I'd be very interested in more detail.

You can PM me to keep it off this thread...

I'll mention it...

Jimmy Foy Collision in Moab, UT...avoid doing business with them! They were paid $1500 for this half-assed work, and didn't even start the tub until the day before it was to be picked up (they had it on-hand for ~3 months). I was very specific when I specified the OEM Olympic White paint. I'll be sending them a nasty-gram later today to express our extreme dissatisfaction with their work. On a bright note, we have CHIEFWAHO & PAPPYWAHO who are obviously going the extra mile with this project. I'm sorry for the headaches, guys, and thank you (and Dave) again & again for the great work.

Craig

OH CRAP!!!! Nothing I can do from here, but I'm sorry for all of the extra work due to this guy.

E-mail sent. I copied Jason & the Officers on the (harsh) e-mail I sent to Jimmy Foy.
