2009 – 6th Annual SOA National Scramble

The 6th Annual SOA National Scramble will be held on June 18, 19, & 20, 2009 Hot Springs, Arkansas at the Superlift Off-Road Vehicle Park.

Below is a link to a lot of information compiled by the Event Committee for your review. We have tried to cover all aspects of this event so that you can start making your vacation plans now. In addition to our SOA National Scramble, Hot Springs has a lot to offer for the entire family. We hope this will get you excited. To make our event planning easier we encourage you to pre-register.

You do not need to be a current member of the SOA to attend the event, however; if you are a current SOA member you will save $20 on the registration fee. In addition if you are a current SOA member and have your Scrambler at the SOA National Scramble your name will be entered into a raffle for Scrambler only specific items. Either way you are welcome to attend.

Come on June!!!!!

Thanks for all the work you guys have done putting this event together!

I'm getting excited.

I'm making provisions now so y'all can see the Charity Scrambler out on a trail ride in June! Not too much trail riding - going to be taking pictures again this year as I have the past two years now.

Can't wait!

Thanks Ken and all!

great work committee

great work guys.. this looks like this will be a great event !!!

trail ratings

OK guys,
looks like 09' scramble might be a possibility for us this year, (for once), couple questions:
Only possible major upgrade I will have time to tackle is: the "kid capsule", (rear seating for the little ones, with somewhat of a cage around them:D ), I would like to dream that the new suspension would make it in the budget, but probably NOT this year, so keeping in mind that my DD has pretty much NO articulation, and stock drivetrain, what am I limited to trail rating wise, just a #1?
I assume pretty much just scenic views, and some mud and such, with NO lockers at all & rear AMC 20, I do good to make it over a small tree, any inputs??

also are dogs allowed in the camp site? It would be awesome to at least be able to bring the 90# solid muscle Boxer to meet you all:D

and do most of you just take a camp site, or most do a motel, I actually got the "I'll try the camping thing for you" go ahead, but that might only last a night;) , we'll see, obviously would be more convincing if there was a larger group of "family" to ease her mind:thumbsup:

thanks for any input,
Rich

You should be able to do catagory 1 & 2 trails with no problem. As far as camping goes I'm not sure as to who will be camping. I have been thinking about it but not sure.

You can camp at the park but expect that it will get a bit dusty. They do allow pets. There is a KOA park just off the highway on the road to the park as well.

This reminds me, last year I donated a couple of lockers. The intent was to get them to a "needing lockers" recipent. It didn't happen as well as intended. I would like to do this again for this year.

It will be D30 and AMC 20 Lockrights. Maybe even some one-piece axles. Would be cool to do the installation there!

Wahoo's and Bobcat, you guys can work with that however you need to. My preference is to limit the drawing to people without lockers.

hey wait, thats me, thats me:D , you mean there would be a chance of my DD not looking like a dog humping your leg when trying to climb something, that would be awesome  , now I just hope I can get the time off for sure to improve my chances   ,(totally being sarcastic, would be awesome to win though!), speaking of that what are the limitations of lockrights versus arbs? I understand the arbs are selectable, etc, etc.. what I am wanting to know is say you had 2-jeeps side by side, that the only difference was one had arbs, one had lockrights, we'll say both have a 4" lift, so neither is going to be "extreme", what is eachs limitations? what are you going to do with the arbs that you won't with the lockrights? Are lockrights, Aussie lockers etc, still pretty good ON ROAD for a DD, or would arbs still be the best of both worlds?

Wow sorry this should have been in another section, so I will add this to keep it here:

So considering the dust, is everyone that is setting up tents, do you all usually set-up at KOA?

Also say Thurs, I did a trail #1, could I do a trail #2 Fri?

If I tried a trail #3, & got into something that looked too much for the kids in the back, (I will not have cage coverage specifically back there), am I able to turn back around, (other than the fact I'll be laughed at, & being labeled a WEINER of course  ), is it possible, to try, and come back if not capable?

I know some trails require a winch, cage etc.. , as far as trail ratings, when do you get these criteria?

I;ll stop for now, this is getting too long for now, sorry!:o

Having led and wheeled out there for the last 10 years, there are a lot of trails you can do open with 33's or 35's. Better to be locked. With a small group and patience, you can do several of the 3-4 trails. It may require a tow strap or someone winching but heck, we took the novice's to Freiglings last year and had a blast getting a couple of stockers through TSOB.

Rich (groundworks3) asked.

What am I limited to trail rating wise, just a #1?
Are dogs allowed in the camp site?
Do most of you just take a camp site, or most do a motel?

Rich,
The Events Committee has posted a link to give some information about Hot Springs ORV Park. The park has a link that describes the different trail levels so that you match your skills and vehicle to a certain level. From your description looks like you will be limited to level #1 & level #2. You probably should run the #1 trails and if you feel comfortable with your vehicle and skills then go to level #2.

We have been to Hot Springs 2 times and there has always been dogs. I talked to the park’s manager this A.M. and he said dogs are welcomed but must be on a leash at all time.

The park has some good camping spots, RV parking and good shower houses. Some of our members camp out at every event. Usually the camping is only limited to Thursday-Sunday nights, however; for our event the park’s manager can make arrangement for Wednesday night. (Call 501-625-3600). There will probably be more posting later on where people will be staying. No matter where you stay it will be a fun event. Hope to see you there.

Check's in the mail!
:D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

We will be looking for it. We received our first registration and check today.
It was from Geore Farrish(gscram). That boy is getting excited.

I hope that I can make it this year. It will all depend on how the wife does with her hip replacement surgery. Her first one is tomorrow. There is 2-4 months recovery required between surgeries, so it depend upon that time frame. If I can make it, it will probably be a last minute decision.

Jack,
Give your lovely wife our best! Hope it all goes well. She'll be in our prayers here. Hope to get to see you in June!

Pappy said he has received the first two registrations.
