Wheels not centred in the wheel wells.

Is it normal for the wheels to be offset to the wheel well? I'll try to get a pic, but on mine, it's very rearward compared to the opening.

Anyone?

I guess mine's a little to the rear, we need a pic to see how much we're talking.

Excuse the blurriness of the last 2, but you can really see it with those pics. They were taken front on with the tyres.

Might be that the spring centering pins are broke?

Is it the same on both sides?

Are these stock springs? I measuered mine and it is about 20.5 inches from axle to shackle bolt on both sides, axle looks to be centered in spring. So spring on backwards would not likely be it. I would guess if the centering pins were missing or broken off it would not track right at all. Is it a stock frame? In the second picture looks like your grill is to close to the front frame plate. Could be the angle. Maybe it is not a cj8 frame and they mounted the body to far forward since it looks like both front and rear wheels are to far back by about the same amount.

Maybe some pictures of the springs and axle mounts, body mounts, especialy at the rear and where the grill mounts. Bottom line is your wheels are to far back, they should be centered in the back and further forward in the front.

Unless there's a huge body lift, there's no way 33s/35s fit with that much clearance on stock springs.

I doubt all of the centering pins are broken and both axles shifted by the same amount. I'd bet it's the lift springs you have that's the cause. You should verify the centering pins are good and then measure center-pin to spring bolt on both ends of the springs.

Both spring-centre distances are the same at 20+ inches (24???)

I think it might just be an optical illusion. I'll have to wait till I get the other 35's on the other side and see what it looks like.

I disagree. I have run both 33/35" tires on few jeeps I've owned with no problems. and no sawzall! and the jeep was all stock. one was a 1980 cj7 which I ran 33x12.5x15"bfg at's. And the other was a 1982 cj5 which I ran 35x12.5x15 bfg mt's and then 36" or q78 buckshot mt's with no problems, and no lift. The only time they rubbed was at full stuff(which most jeeps do unless you have it set right)! But I can say that I have owned other jeeps that would not fit 31" tires stock. like my 1986 cj7 would not fit anything bigger then 31" bfg at's. and also a 93 yj I owned for a short time was almost a low rider. so I think it depends on the jeep.

Also I noticed that there is two pic's above. which one is more current?

They are both current. I have the 35's on oen side and 30 or 31's on the other. The other 2 rims are on my other jeep.
