Scrambler Hood Decal

I'm getting ready to cut some new logos for my Scrambler, but need the logo dimensions. Could anyone with the hood decals measure the total length & height of the Scrambler Logo for me?

Thanks!!

Do you mean the "Scrambler" lettering?

Check these:

I don't have any currently, but I could get you the measurements if you like that style.

Yes, The stock style. I do vinyl cutting on the side and would like to make a set up for my project.

Since you know this "vinyl decal" industry, how did AMC make the original two-color decals without an "overlay"? Specifically, how did the decals have two colors without there being a seam between the colors? I haven't seen any aftermarket Scrambler Laredo decals without the seam.

The original logos were dye printed on white vinyl & then die cut. The logos that you are talking about are layered vinyl, which is why you see that lip between the colors.

Now it would be easy to get single layer vinyl. Most of the vinyl shops have color machines that they use for all of their signs and vehicle "wraps".

I will try to scan in the lettering I have later today. Then I can post a pdf file. You could use this to find a suitable font and match the right/left tilt of the letters.

83Scrambler, if you do this, can you keep a template and make additional sets to sell to members on this board? There have been a few guys in the past that have offered to do this and never followed through. I understand that these can be made pretty cheap, and if so, even if the quality is not same as OEM, I would be very interested.

Is it too much of a challenge to do the dye printed type? If not, then why wouldn't the aftermarket decal suppliers do them the original way, so that guys like me can't feel the difference?

I have a question along this same line, are the decals offered by Collins and Austin (I think it is) done in the shape or font as the originals. And did the font change during the years of production? The two I have oem lettering on are the '81 and the '82 models, one is the two tone nutmeg and the other is solid white, both have the slanting font.

It appears to me that the ones being offered are block letter type.

That's a good questions, but I don't have the answer, as I haven't looked at the aftermarket decals very closely. However, I can confirm that the '83 Laredo nutmeg decals are the same as the '81.

BTW, let's see your two-tone nutmeg CJ8 sometime.

Nice color combo on the Laredo. In the photo, I couldn't see what's wrong with your door trim panel. Is that an '81 model?

Yeah, I'd be interested too. I'm looking for the silver/gray hood decals on an 84 Laredo.
