Wasnt gonna post this up till we got home but... too excited!!!
The wife and I will be flying to California on the 21st to check out a Scrambler and probably buy it. (by probably I mean 99.9999% sure we're buying it)
Then we will be loading it up with everything and driving her back allllllll the waaaaaay back home. 5025km away (according to our map book, if we dont deviate from the course... which we will.)
planning on stopping at the Grand Canyon, Moab (might do a trail or 2 depending on how confident we are with the Jeep) and probably stop at a few more places on the way home..
I will try and post up progess reports when we can (we will have our ipod touch with us, so we'll need free wifi to have interweb access, and probably no pic updates till we're home)
I still cant believe we're doing this, and to top it off, it was mostly the wifes idea!!!

We are looking for a spare tire since the Scrambler doesnt have one. 5 on 5.5 with a 35" tire. dont care the condition as long as it holds air.

we will be traveling on the route on the link. If youre near the route and have a spare, (cheap) let me know and we'll stop by and grab it. preferablely near the begining of the route. :)

wish us luck!!!

(bigwalton, I'll post pics up later. ;) )

What's a km? ;)

If you go through Denver and head north on I-25 after Moab, make the trip up to Estes/RMNP. I'm local so it's easy for me to make that suggestion. Heck, I might even have a couch for you to crash on.

AWESOME!!!!

Post up your route here, at least roughly, so you can get people to let you know where they are to get help along the way if you need it. That was the single best thing I did getting mine back!

I can't believe you wouldn't tell us about it until you get back!!!! :eek: I'll speak for everyone when I say we'd LOVE to follow your progress!!

Also, on the pics/updates, you're welcome to post them here directly, but you could also email them to me and I can post them for you. This way you can draft them in email as you're driving and just send them on when you get wifi, it will take a lot less time when you're stopped. You can also attach pics real easily :evil:

You can even text message me updates and I'lll post them here :)

You'll have a PM from me in a minute!

SO COOL!!!!!!!!!!! :smokin:

BKarma,
I don't know what time limit you've given yourselves but you're going to be right in the middle of two wonderful areas to visit. Santa Cruz is to the north of you (Aptos) and Monterey is to the south. If you had to choose one I'd go to Monterey and check out there aquarium. It's one of the best in the world. LOTS of good places to eat too! Just thinking that as long as you're so close it would be cool to visit. ANY place you go on your trip will be memorable because you're doing it in a Scrambler. Be safe and ENJOY!

I highly recommend the RMNP near Estes Park. It's breath taking for sure. We did it on a scooter trip year before last-

:thumbsup:If needed, I will be from 3 to 6 hours away when you go through northern Indiana. If the need arises, I can PM you my phone #. We'll be at Silver Lake Sand Dunes over the July 4th week so we'll be north of you a few hours.

You must make a quick stop somewhere around Detroit (read Dexter, MI) for a meal and photo op with the famous "BigWalton". I highly recommend his company. :cheers: :thumbsup:

bigwalton's people and my people are already negotiating a meeting in Dexter michigan. :cheers:

we will be across the border in port huron /sarnia, before the 31st of June. what day exactly i dunno. everyday we keep adding another stop to our adventure. :)

Ack! That's the weekend of the National, I'll be back around most likely on the night of the 29th or 30th, so make a bunch more stops in there or just come to the National! :evil:

Good luck on the trip! You are going North of me. If you were to hit I-70 in Utah and head all the way to St. Louis you would go right through where I live in Missouri. Can't wait to hear how it goes and see pics! :cheers:

wife just emailed me from work. we have to be home before or on the 28th. she has training at work on the 29th that she can't miss.
changed our route to see how much longer it would be if we stopped in Sparta for the nationals... trip goes from 48h 23m to 55h 15m.... would be cutting it too short for our deadline. maybe next year we'll go to the nationals..

LEAVING IN LESS THAN 8 HOURS!!!!!!

:wave::wave::wave::wave:
:D:smokin::drool::crazy:

Thanks man, too bad we're gonna miss ya. have fun at the Scramble.

Yeah, that sucks. I have internet through my cell phone, so I'm still hoping to be able to get on here every day/night and will check in. I can probably still post pics if you email them :) Text updates would be cool regardless!! :D

probably to late now but if you get to Moab and still need a spare swing by Chip's BFG store on the n end, he's always got some used, spare quality tires out back.

Have fun!

yeah, i figure we'll be sending you updates via text unless we find wifi. not worth the roaming charges for us since we have Canadian phones.. probably no pics till we get back though. :( will be using ipod touch for net (no pics) and we dont have a "data" plan for our phones :( so unless we stop at a internet cafe or something....

trust, thanks! we're hoping we find one in Bakersfield. but if we dont find one before Moab, we'll deffinatly check that place out.
