Day 3 traveling Day 2 driving woke to this imageImageUploadedByTapatalk1442409048.855088.jpg I figured the sunroof has never been opened, I was cruising yesterday with all windows open including the sunroof, stuff was flying everywhere. Bits of liner of some sort, bits of rust, rubber, snot and boogers, Redback spiders eggs, you name it.
After a dried out bacon and egg samwidge and coffee I set sail for Ceduna, where I am right now. Mission completed. I wonder what bonuses I've unlocked. Along the way I saw half of this country's Coat of ArmsImageUploadedByTapatalk1442409431.505011.jpg and the other half all over the place, "Why do they sleep there on the road Daddy?" Kangaroos rarely win against the road trains.
One section of road had a long line of trees all decorated, thong tree, sandshoe tree, plastic mug tree, even a bra tree! Then in the middle of BFI there's this clothes hoistImageUploadedByTapatalk1442409687.388882.jpg
Keen eye will see I've taken off the wind deflector, not sure it's a success though. Pretty fumy inside, guess new seals all round are in order.
Happily making good-to-me time when I went passed this lot thinking how glad I was not to be stuck behind themImageUploadedByTapatalk1442410051.239359.jpg
Then I did get stuckImageUploadedByTapatalk1442410012.455165.jpg Fail! These are on their way to Roy Hill iron ore mine. Gina has LOTS of iron ore out there that she can't get over to China fast enough.

It's late, 14 hours driving tomorrowImageUploadedByTapatalk1442410167.221894.jpg
McGyver moment when I overfilled the ps pump.

Is anyone else thinking about the complete insanity here? And I don't mean the incredible photos.

These are digital photos taken by a hand-held phone and updates about this trip written on that same phone that's roughly the size of a large candy bar, from the other side of the planet, wirelessly uploaded to this thing we call the internet, where we can sit here in our homes or work in the US to check them out, or on our phones or tablet computers, any one of which is HUNDREDS OF ORDERS OF MAGNITUDE more powerful than ALL of the electronics that were used to put the first man on the moon.

Think about what it would have taken for so many of us all around the country/world to follow this trip and get these photos in '84 when that Jeep was brand new...

Every now and then, it's good to think about the wonder of everyday life that everyone takes for granted now and how fundamentally different all of this makes our world today.

And yes, this thread is literally busting with awesome.

Now extrapolate what you just said in terms of years... and then to month... 1969 to today... roughly 50 years... and we went from tubes to transistors to things so small you can't even see.
50 more years? Hope I live long enough to see it... it will be leaps and bound of magnitude greater than what we have witnessed.

Just imagine... that car in 1984 was only roughly 85 years old worth of techynology... and since then, look at what we have progressed to...another 85 years? Dang!

I was talking about the same thing yesterday after I took a 1949 Plymouth for a test drive.

Yes, it's fun to think about how we've progressed in terms of technology - which has been amazing. But what I see here is the ACCESS. There are no signs. There are no rails. There is no parking lot. No fence. There are no overpriced condos, mobile homes, telephone towers, billboards, traffic, cars, trucks, tourists, Denny's restaurants, ... There is just a spectacular vista... A guy... And a Jeep. Able to drive within three feet of a three-hundred foot drop.

Goddamn man... That's impressive.

Well said. That is also amazing. I don't think you would see that in this country. It reminds me of driving along the opening of a volcano in Iceland in 1981. Surreal and amazing.
