Bumper question

Hello,

I've been looking for a flush mounted rear bumper for my cj8, but havent been able to find one. There are plenty made for the yj's, but not the cjs. Has anyone adapted a yj bumper on a cj?

Whats confusing to me is that some bumpers out there are listed to fit both the cj and the yjs, e.g. smittybilt SRC bumpers.

Here's a picture of what im looking for.

Thanks

A lot of the aftermarket does adapter brackets so one bumper fits multiple platforms. That can be good or bad, depending on the design. Fundamentally, the spacing for the OEM bumperettes is different between the CJ and YJ, so all things being equal, a YJ bumper won't work on a CJ (without specific design changes/brackets/accommodations).

I've never seen a "flush mount" bumper like shown above, for either a CJ or a YJ. It initially strikes me like it's a piece that completely replaces the rear crossmember, but I suppose it could also be a 1/4" plate steel cover over the rear crossmember. Who makes it?

It is a plate that goes over the rear cross member. Couple of companies make different versions. The one I like is from Rokmen. The all say it will fit yj,tj and lj.

I actually ordered a crossmember from him yesterday. I might just box it in on the sides and add some d-ring mounts. Thanks for the idea.
