Hello,
My name is Barry Gray. I've had my Scrambler since 1987, except for about nine months. It was rode hard and put away wet. I really enjoyed it over the years. In 2009 nine I let a friend of mine talk me out of it. He owns a body shop and "restored it". I thought it looked so good I bought it back from him when he was finished with it. It looked great for several months and then the paint started bubbling up where he "repaired the rust spots". I was bummed and started to fix the areas but they never stopped, it just got worse. Finally one day I just started taking it apart, and I mean all apart, down to the bare frame.
In 2010 the first thing I did was fix the rusted out body bushing mounts on the frame. Then I took it down to the bare metal. Next I painted it with Eastwood's black Rust Encapsulator paint. Then I painted it with epoxy primer and then chassis black paint.
