    SJScrambler - Getting Started

Wow, how do you know what goes where? Where do you measure from? Are you working from another tub or a blueprint? Beautiful metal work. My father and father in law built liberty ships in Baltimore during the war but I’m sure it’s easier to build new than to rebuild and have so many connections...

Hood flutter yesterday in a 20-25 mph gal

Can my Tj to Cj hood latches be tightened up to eliminate severe weather hood flutter? I can always machine a new base to raise the catch. But can the Cj latch be tightened up internally? Would be an easier fix.

Finished the Cj cowl vent cover. Windshield supports are next.

My wife bought me a Jeep!

I like the ss/chrome accents on Little Red. I’m debating if I want to go that way with my Tj to Cj build. Getting those door and windshield hinge bolts off can be a monster. You’ve got a pretty sharp looking Cj8 there.

Started installing my Cj ss cowl vent cover. I’ll have to fab up something to support the screen underneath the vent as the original one is too small to clear the screws of the Cj vent.

An update, could use some prayers.

Randy, while we don’t know each other I understand what you’re going through having lost my wife of 42 years last year after complications from a fall and stroke. My prayer every day is simply, Lord, give me strength. Stay strong. If you get to eastern NC let me know.

Got my tonneau springs done but I've turned them around so the coils face the hinges. They’ve got plenty of lift, almost too much. Rather than a permanent mount for the lower arms I did a track for them to ride in so they can slide like my cover does. Need to throw some paint on them tomorrow...

Going to try a pair of gmc truck hood hinges on my tonneau as the truck tonneau guy didn’t have the smarts to get the correct struts and didn’t mention hood struts or I might have investigated those. I found a couple of truck hinges so we’ll see how they work out.

Got Ripley back from my mechanic who installed 4 O2 sensors, an oil change and all the rubber bumpers inside of the springs. I’ve started working on the Cj hood latches. Got the bases built for the fender part but I need to measure a cj’s hood latches to get the height location of the hood part...

My goal was to put something together that was a truly lockable trunk area, a jeep or suv’s weakness. Anything can be defeated but I wanted to make the bad guys have to take as long as possible. Maybe they’ll get tired and leave my Tj alone.

Shortened the tonneau, got it bolted down, support rods built but I still want gas struts, tailgate lock finished.
