    82 Scrambler - rebuild

Well I built a really nice trans mount, until I installed the T-case and realized that my nice mount completely blocked the front driveshaft.... back to the drawing board. In the midst of that I am told by people much more knowledgeable than I that I will run into low range shift problems...

    82 Scrambler LS conversion

Have you researched where and how to connect the speed sensor to the trans or T-case? I’m to that stage and my local trans shop swears I’m fine sensing off of the t-case and the owner has this same engine, trans, t-case in an old Chevy truck. However I have also talked to some knowledgeable...

    82 Scrambler LS conversion

I was really impressed with Texas LS in Tomball for reworking the harnes and cleaning up the engine. Attention to detail was impeccable as was his communication throughout the process.

    Front axle D-44 upgrade

Along with my LS upgrade I am upgrading both axles. I’m going with D-44 up front and have located both high pinion and low. I know the high is stronger but can have clearance issues with the front driveshaft. My Jeep is SOA and is running a NP241, both of these things create extra clearance...

    82 Scrambler - rebuild

And that’s the question. HP is the stronger option but can creat clearance issues with the driveshaft. Will my SOA + NP241 create enough clearance to make it work or should I stick with LP?

    82 Scrambler - rebuild

So, I have now gone from the D300 to a 241C and since I’m regeading my 9” is going in the rear and I’m shopping for a good front replacement. I have found a decent deal on a Dana 44 in either high pinion or low. With factory springs and SOA I think I’m good with either one but want advise.

1982 South Texas Scrambler frame up

That’s what I did with a cast block. There is an awesome guy in Tomball that will either take your engine and clean it up and re-do the wiring harness or supply you a turn key set up. Either way you hear your set up run before you leave with it. TexasLS on either FB or Insta

1982 South Texas Scrambler frame up

If you decide to stick with the 350 option I have a Turbo 350 already mated to a D-300 that I will make you a deal on!

1982 South Texas Scrambler frame up

Pretty close to you and doing the same except my body is good. I’m went with a 5.3 LS / 4L60 swap with 4.56 gears on 33’s. Mine will be flat towed so I swapped from a good D-300 to an NP241C t-case.

    82 Scrambler - rebuild

What is everyone’s recommendation behind the SLE. 1310 CV Yoke or 1310 Non CV Yoke or 1350 Non CV or 1350 Rear Output Flange?

    82 Scrambler - rebuild

I have to call them back. He suggested the 1205 kit but his website clearly states that the 1205 is for electronic speedo and provides a link to the 1204 for a cable driven speedo.

    Brake Booster upgrade ideas?

Off Road again in mine as well. Running 33” tires, inspection guy had me drive while he rode along, he asked “are the brakes good. He dang near hit his head on the dash 😬

    82 Scrambler - rebuild

Yes passenger drop mechanical speedo. Seems JB gets the best reviews for product but worst reviews for customer service. He returned my call the same day so?? What does your research say?

    82 Scrambler - rebuild

Well crap! I searched just for such a thing and only found units that did the opposite (mechanical to electric) and I saw this exactly 2 minutes after paying way too much on an NP241C with mechanical speedo and still have to buy the SYE!!! Seems I remember Dennis (ZR10054) often saying “it’s...

    82 Scrambler - rebuild

Well JB returned my call. They make a SYE with mech speedo connection for drivers side output but not for passenger side out.... So I’m on the hunt for a needle in a haystack it seems!
