So, while visiting family down in Spencer WV, we saw a sign while coming in to town for Hatfield Distillery and Winery. Never saw it advertised before, turns out it is 3 miles north of family. Run by Mark Hatfield and his wife, on their homestead, they use real copper pot stills to make bourbon, whisky, moonshine, and then make wine as well. Great stories and pictures to look at on the walls. Great story tellers of their family history. Lots of free samples later, I took home maple whisky, charred in a jar, and Devil Anse 125 proof bourbon. The charred in a jar is trade marked bourbon mash, then jarred with a 2”x4” piece of charred oak for flavor. It is not barreled. It is crazy over the top charred flavor. They have 300ml shots in a jar too.

Wow. I missed some posts!! Any brown liquor is going to age well so I’m curious to hear if some of these older bottles have been tried!

I wanted to add the Jameson’s Caskmates to this as I’ve had the Stout version in South Africa and the IPA at home and they’re both very nice change-ups from traditional bourbon or whiskey. Enjoyed this tonight while grilling burgers and after dinner by the fire pit.

The scotch is still good. Probably not getting better with age in the bottle. If you were closer I would come over and let you know :) not really into Jack either

I am not a huge fan of Jack bourbon either, but this one is pretty smooth

I’m not very polished, but this stuff is the only stuff I’ve found I can sip on.......really it’s the only stuff I want to drink anymore! Unfortunately most won’t be able to find it, only sold in Oklahoma for now.

Not bourbon. Someone a little while back gave me a partial bottle and I enjoyed it. Went and got another when the bottle was finished. Pretty fair price for what you get. Cheers ! image.jpeg:cheers:

My best man has a marketing agency and picked up three whiskey brands as clients. One of them I’d never heard of and couldn’t find, until Costco yesterday.

it’s a collaboration between a bourbon maker and a Japanese whiskey master blender. The blending is done in the Japanese tradition.

He hyped it up pretty good (and he has good bourbon taste) and it still impressed me. Super mellow and smooth, nice caramel notes with a little heat on the finish. I could drink this all night easily.

edit: forgot to add that I was surprised how affordable it was! $35

Enjoying a Jefferson’s Reserve with a Mayorga Gordito on the deck tonight. One of my standard bourbons, just outstanding straightforward bourbon.

Introduced the neighbor to the Jefferson's reserve on Friday night... both standard and the Cabernet cask
So... the Cabernet won... and now a new bottle is needed :(
