What's on your Work Bench?

Off of my workbench and part of the car now. Whole lot of horse hair and leather. I showed pictures in the beginning and someone asked for pictures when it was done. Now I can work on other things.

I imagine that type of work is a dying art.

Thanks guys. Many of the old arts are getting lost. It seems the newer generations are more interested in newer technology. The days of apprentiships are long gone. Too many salesmen and too few craftsmen now. I like to think that the people on this site are craftsmen, too. You have to be to do the great restorations and restomods that we see here.

So I have been quiet and busy moving into the new space... still a ton of work to do, but I had to get this grille apart, so why not start on the new toolbox with a top to work on as well...

Picked up that box about 5 months ago from a place that had 4 of them and were closing. I never would have paid full price for one of these things, but the amount of storage, the height, the depth of the drawers, ease of opening.... I can go on and on and I am sure a lot of you already know this... but MY GOD!!!! I had 4 older crafstman boxes that didn't have the width/depth/height and a lot of the drawers were definitely not as nice opening as this is.

I got all 4 of the boxes into this one box and this one rolls with ease...

Anyway, happy post over... just wanted to say hi and that I was still kicking around.

I have a lot of work to do still, but it is slowly getting there.

16 years in Utah and 30+ Jeeps later I have failed/quit on 2:

https://www.cj-8.com/threads/here-goes-nothin’-the-rosco1974-build-story.48663/ (WAY to far gone with rust)
https://www.cj-8.com/threads/rosco1974s-1985-cj7-project.49799/ (First time painting)

When I quit the Scrambler I cut the front clip off for a wall hanger (nothing was salvageable) and I still had the paint supplies from the CJ7, so what does a guy do Memorial Weekend? A Jeep Memorial project!!

I won a huge Mac box years back in a raffle- basically the size of yours with a matching top box. As a lifetime Craftsman user, I was amazed at how nice the box was. I paid $20 for the raffle ticket- I think the box new listed for almost $8k. Or so he claimed. Anyways- I thought that was more than enough. Fast forward…ran out of room and bought a big Kobalt bottom box for all my cordless and electrical tools. And it’s full. Gotta say- the Mac box is amazing but the Kobalt is no slouch.

The Mac has those big drawers- it’s weighs a ton. Yep, that’s the Scrambler cowl seal laying flat on top

The Kobalt. Not as deep and wide, but holds a lot. The top makes a great catch-all. Man- I’ve got a mess going!

How do you like the m12 ratchet? Have enough power? Thinking about getting a ratchet and a 1/2” impact in m12 but worried it won’t have the power. Love my other m12 stuff

The ratchet is great. Power wise it’s adequate but it’s smaller size is the winning factor. I haven’t tested the torque but I don’t use it on big stuff. It’s rated 35ft/lbs and I think that’s about right. I want the 1/4” extended reach next, and the shorty 3/8 impact. Hoping for a Father’s Day deal.

Just at Home Depot. There is a right angle 3/8 impact rated at 220 ft/lbs. I think that me be the next one I get.
