Roll Bar Removal... with a grinder?

Probably not going to happen this summer, but when I replace panels over the winter in the bed area, I need to remove the rollbar. For laughs I picked up a couple T40 bits, and fed them to my impact gun. There are 16 torx bolts holding that rollbar in place. 0 moved. I soaked the best looking...

Just wanted to share this... maybe you've seen it.

Obviously no longer for sale, but perhaps one of the most beautiful scramblers I've ever seen. Had I seen this when it was for sale, I may have put my house up for sale and flew to texas to pick this up, without asking about the price. Maybe you all have seen this before...

    Inspection plate bolt size?

Been meaning to replace my flywheel inspection plate/cover (which I found in the bed of my scrambler when I bought it...) but there weren't any bolts. Looking at the bellhousing I'm guessing it's a fine thread, maybe 20, but not sure on size.

    Instrument lights...

I've been trying to work through this rats nest of wiring to figure out how to get my instrument light to work. Played with dimmer while checking voltages, checked 3A fuse, then measured voltage across fusebox for the acc light fuse... 0 with lights on. Interesting. Based on wiring diagram, I...

Ok, first one is these two, an orange and a yellow taped together hanging from drivers side firewall... any guesses? Interesting connectors.

    Stupid wiper switch...

Ok. I get it, I'm not a mechanic. Or an engineer. But how in the world does this friggin' switch come out of the dash?!?! Mine has been so loose, that now if I turn the wipers on, it just spins the switch, which is of little help when it's raining. The chrome bezel spins, (but wont come off...

    A True Scrambler Rambling... Thoughts?

Been a while since I've been on here. Was just working on the 8 this weekend, and really giving it a good going over. Actually considered selling it. There's so much to do to it - she's a real basket case. Some of you may have read one or two of my other threads, but what this thing really needs...

    Wire elimination confusion

Hi everyone, Been a while since I've posted. The Frankenscrambler has been sitting in the garage for a while and with temperatures rising in the PNW, I've decided to get some work done with the few spare hours I have available at night. Some of you may remember my 8, but as a little bit of...

    Passengers shock Mount

My "81" scrambler seems to have the longer shock mounts, but this isn't surprising as I'm not actually sure its an 81 because I can't find a VIN on it anywhere. In any event, my passengers shock mount looks bent compared to the drivers side. There is rust at the base - it needs to be replaced...

    Transfer case leak

Just brought the 8 back from our cabin so it can spend the winter in a warm garage. Totally forgot to unlock the hubs prior to coming back. about 100 miles or so at 60mph. once I pulled in the garage and came back a couple days later, there is a pretty good leak under the jeep, and the transfer...

    Degreasing recommendations?

I'm bringing the -8 back from the cabin at the end of the month and need to work out a few gremlins. Need to replace some cooling lines that are slowly leaking, upgrade ignition, cut out a few miles of orphaned wires, fix the electronic choke (and probably the oil pressure switch that activates...

    New Scrambler Guy...

Hey everyone, I just had a 81 CJ8 follow me home. At the time, I thought I got a pretty good deal - after closer inspection, I probably paid too much. Its fairly stock, I think the only mod is the weber carb and the 1" body lift. Its got a lot of rust... to the point that the tub may be a goner...
