    Radiator recommendations? (V8 conversion)

Swapping in an LT1 and looking for a good buy on an aluminum radiator. I have been doing some internet research and have read that the size of the fluid channels, the number of fins per inch, and other factors make a big difference. Anyway, I'm looking at maybe one from this...

Do I need the liquid check valve?

LT1 swap, doing away with the original charcoal canister and pollution stuff. I have a rollover check valve. Do I still need a liquid check valve? Mine was worn out and damaged. I have the 15 gallon tank with the two vent hoses that originally went to the liquid check valve. I was...

    Quick update

Well, finally decided to get back to the build. (I know, I know...:o;)) I'm hoping to be able to make it to the National Scramble in June, but I have A LOT to do before then. Here's a couple of quick progress pics. 1. Had to fab and weld in some new mounts into the rear of the tub. 2. Also...

    I'm baaaack....(mostly!)

I debated whether to post this or not, but as a relatively long-term member here, charter member/original treasurer of the Scrambler Owners Association, and participant in both national and regional "Scrambles" of one type or another, I've made a lot of friends here. I appreciate all of you...

Blown axle seal of some sort....

Got back from Crozet wheeling on Sunday and have noticed a slow leak of gear oil coming out of my rear driver side axle...drips down on the inside of the rear tire and puddles on the floor, pretty good leak. AMC 20 with one-piece axles. Gonna get out the Chilton manual, but just thought I'd...

    Crozet, Va trail ride yesterday....

LittleJohn and I had a great day of wheeling at Crozet yesterday! :) Crozet is very rocky, with big obstacles but also go arounds on MOST;) obstacles. I defintely pushed my Jeep harder yesterday than ever before! We had some carnage...I dented my rocker panel (again) and...

    Crozet 4.21.07 (trail ride report)

Well, this is nothing compared to the Flat Nasty" thread, but I thought I'd post it anyway! Got a chance to go out to Crozet (near Charlottesville, Va) with LittleJohn this past weekend. We got off to a really good start: the Wild Cherry (lol!) LittleJohn's cj7 Unfortunately, I think I...

    I got yer paint...right here....!!!

I know I need to update the build thread on the "WildTurkey" project, but here's what I did today: A few "before" pics, includies some shots of primer: A few "after" pics: The color is 1969-1979 AMC Javelin "Big Bad Orange." Still have to paint the doors, windshield, and PSC...

The Wild Cherry.....(cj8 #2 quick buildup)

I'll get to the name of this thread later, but as some of you know, I picked up an 83 cj8 with a chevy 350, sm465, stock axles, homebrew springover, with 36" tires this past spring. The interior was shot, but the frame was good, the body was pretty good, and the engine ran strong! Here's a pic...

Need help with Warn 8274-50 battery connections

OK, getting ready to try and install the 8274-50 for the Oak Ridge run. Can anybody confirm the positive and negative wiring connections for me? The insulated wires and caps are already connected...I'm looking for the connection points on the winch for the main (+) lead from the battery and...

Kaiser8, Scrangler, JC, Fernando...all big rigs...how high is yours?

I know I've been lame about updating my build thread, but I have been slowly working on getting the jeep done. Put the tub back on this weekend and....WOW...sits higher than I thought it would! Sitting on 38s with RE 1.5" springover, with the shackles that came with my previous RE 4.5"...

WARN 8274...does it block too much air from reaching the radiator?

I have heard that just about everybody loves the Warn 8274 winch. I am wondering if it contributes to engine overheating in CJs by blocking too much air from reaching the radiator (I have swapped to a V8). Would it be better to get a lower profile winch? Thanks -Mike

How long is your traction bar?

Got a Blue Torch Fab traction bar bracket on my rear 14 bolt, but trying to decide on how long of a traction bar to put on the jeep. I have heard longer is better (yeah, yeah, insert your funny joke here:rolleyes: ) but I was wondering if there is an optimal length or seeing what has worked...

Thanks to a Scramble Raffle Vendor!

SpecialtyTopCo.com I’m posting to give some props and thanks to a stand-up vendor! In June 2005, at the 2nd Annual National CJ-8 Scramble hosted by the Scrambler Owners Association in Hot Springs, Arkansas, I was the lucky winner of the raffle grand prize: a certificate for a free top of...

    60" Hi-lift...too big???

I've got a 48" hi-lift and have the opportunity to swap it for a 60" cast one. Figured it might be a good idea since I am going to start running 38s whenever I get the jeep back together. Just wondering if the 60' is too long and too cumbersome for the cj8. My 48" one fit well mounted to...

undercoating under the tub...yes or no?

Well, should have just about all the rust removed from underneath the tub bed after a couple more work sessions on it. I am leery of putting a thick undercoating on it because I think, once it cracks somewhere, water will get up in there and be held under the coating, actually promoting rust...

OT: Opinions on the 2.5L TJs?

Got a line on a Jeep for my daughter, but need some opinions first. Found a 1997 Jeep TJ with ac/auto/ new brakes, 118K, and overall vgc. It has a brand new motor installed 8,000 miles ago. $3800 obo. Only problem is that it is a 2.5L motor, and I was thinking that the 4.0L would be better...
