    What shocks are you using

You should be able to order the Bilsteins for a 2.5” lift.

    What shocks are you using

Shock length will depend on what mods you have done. When you added the widetrack axles did you leave the short front towers on the frame, or did you install the taller front shocks towers? And how tall is your lift? If you installed the longer front towers, order shocks for an 82 and up. If you...

What texture type "paint" have you used inside your CJ8 tub?

I also will be using Raptor on the inside of the bed. I will be leaving it black. From my research, Raptor is one of the best liners for bed applications, and the 2 step Lizard Skin is the best for interior applications.

    The Descrambler Project

That’s good to know! I was planning on something like that, but my painter did such a nice job on the bottom of the hood that I don’t want to cover it up!

    Body Tub Measurement

I looked but no luck so far. I’m leaving town for a couple of days tonite, so I’ll check again once I come back. If not I just got my tub back, so I can measure it.

Meet Red, my 81 Restomod Build

Mounting the tub to two 2x6’s worked out well. I ran a 2x4 across the back to make up the height difference. I used some hard rubber spacers that I had laying around, and some longer bolts. The body shop loved it, and it made it easy to load and unload without risking damage. Hardest part was...

    New guy to the Forum

I am currently building an 81. I addressed the narrow axles by swapping in widetracks and then a custom built 9” rear. For the seat belts I performed a complicated but heck for stout modification to the factory bar. It’s detailed in my build. My biggest concern was getting a good body and frame...

Meet Red, my 81 Restomod Build

The painter sent me some pics of the fenders and other goodies today. I should have it all Back in a couple of weeks.

Meet Red, my 81 Restomod Build

The cab will be coated with the two types of Lizard Skin. Then top coated with the same red. The bed will be black Raptor liner. Although now that the paint is so nice I almost wish I had the bed painted too. But then I would never use it for anything!

Meet Red, my 81 Restomod Build

The fuel lines came from ANPlumbing.com. They also have tons of adapter fittings on their website. Ordered Monday, arrived Thursday. I do have an in-tank pump. It’s a 91 K5 Blazer tank. The clamps are from Amazon, black anodized. I have used them before and they work well. I drill out the center...

Meet Red, my 81 Restomod Build

Thank you! I was so nervous. A center dump pulled out in front of me on the highway- I pulled over and waited a few minutes before continuing on. Didn’t want a rock chip before even driving! The paint shop is about a 30 minute drive.

Meet Red, my 81 Restomod Build

Big day today. Went and picked up the tub from the painter. Wow- it is shiny! The other parts all need to be cut and buffed, but he’s out of town for a couple of weeks, so I’ll be patient. Here’s some pics. Also had some parts show up today. In the process of researching PTFE lines and AN...

    One Man Tub Removal

Pulled my tub fairly easily with an engine hoist. Hooked up to the top of the roll bar and one ratchet strap to the rear for stability. Now, putting it back on once it’s painted might be a different story.

    The story of Peggy's jeep.

Awesome plan! The 8.8 is a heck of an axle, and would have been my choice if I was going wider!

    Body Tub Measurement

What measurements do you need? I took a bunch several years ago, I’ll try and find them.

bigwalton Postal teardown/rebuild - what would you do?

Hmm... well, I was running an Astro van flat arm with a crossover link to the drivers side. Still rubbed. I had found some dog-leg tie rod ends that would set the tie rod back 1/2 inch or so, but I never got that far.

bigwalton Postal teardown/rebuild - what would you do?

I’ll address the body issue first. A Postal is a rare and sought after vehicle, even if it isn’t stock. For what you will pay for an Aqualu body, you could have it repaired. And- it would still be stock. For that matter, I’m sure there are members local to you that would be pleased to help you...
