Who considers Jeep CJ's to be a "Quality" vehicle?

I had a few 7's back in the day and belonged to a jeep club in Boulder in the 80's. I'd say it depends. Heard some stories and others had some issues, but all of the ones I had were above average reliability and didn't have any repairs that weren't self inflicted.

New to the Scrambler world - first question...

Welcome.... I am no expert, but believe I read somewhere that some of the California models had a check engine light at that location. I've got an 83 California jeep, but no light. Looking forward to seeing more pics when your new jeep arrives.

    Alternator Overcharging

Thank you very much. That was a lot easier to understand than the text in my service manual. I am on the road this week for work, but will use my multimeter and follow the steps referenced above. Battery always gets disconnected before I started messing with connections. Thanks again.

I've been working my way to accomplish the same, but still figuring out what I currently have. Trying to track with the following graphic, but would definitely like to get rid of the excess.

    Alternator Overcharging

Have an unusual situation that I hope maybe some one else has already been through. Will try to keep is short and simple. 83 with 4.2 and manual tranny. Was trying to diagnose an ignition problem (no spark at coil, except when getting on the key or getting off of it) for a while, then once I...

My Newest Project - Me !?!?

It's worse than that. 6' / 250 myself, been floating between 235 & 250 for years. Anything over 222 is now considered obese. I almost look skinny at 220, I was 215 in college, would like to get back to 225. Got the same fatty liver diagnosis last month, so the weight needs to come off.

    Transmission fluid change

I did mine awhile back and had the shifter cover off. Decided it was easier to run a hose down through the opening and fill it from the topside than from underneath.

    Clint Bowyer's 1979 Peterbilt & ????

Not sure how many other NASCAR fans we have, but I always pull for Clint. Saw this video and I think they missed the real story as I was more interested by the vehicle in the background, though the history of the Peterbilt was pretty cool. <iframe width="640" height="360" src=""...

    Mikes wanderings

So the wheels under the counterweight rotate too? Or rotate the tracks to be parallel to the wheels? Now you gave me something else to Google today.

That is some serious counterweight. Never saw one adjustable like that. Pretty Cool!

    258 trouble starting after running

Very nice!! I'm fighting the same gremlin. Though mine is only like that if it sits from 10 minutes to 30 minutes, any shorter or longer, no problems.
