Big leaps this weekend, other than i have got a duff oil pressure gauge (old OEM one) , got a duff wiper switch too (Brand new crap).
4WD and MIL lights dont appear to work, Rear diff has sprung a leak and the handbrake is woeful but other than that its not far off now.
Going to get some fresh...
I bought an entire side panel just like CB did and ended up just using the wheel arch part itself as i could see the rest of it was going to be a problem with fitment.
The arch shape isn't quite right either and looked like it was hand formed, but its way better than the fresh air that was there...
Truth be told it took me quite a while to find any sort of tape to try out on it and after all that the sound quality is pretty lousy but thats part of the 80s vibe i was trying to go with i guess 😁
So other than small bits and a whole world of tidying up, i think all i need in larger items is some tyres, glass in my windshield frame and that hood painted and i reckon i can take this for test.
I can then maybe get using it and just in time for summer as well
Its gained some headlamps and other parts!, painter just has the hood to do and the doors at some point when i decide which doors as a set of YJ ones have popped up on Ebay.,

Thank you!
I have been busy yesterday and today putting this thing back together and its finally starting to properly resemble a Jeep again, amazing when i look back at what i started with!.
You also have to think about the cables sizing and the solenoids etc, none of it will be rated to run at very high amps for an extended period of time or you would be installing a cable the size of a radiator hose to cope with the amp draw and a plug and socket equally oversized.
Good idea, I did this with the CJ6 when i had an electric winch and before i installed the hydraulic one, I still use it now for keeping the batteries charged up.
I also installed a separate battery isolator switch just for the winch and just in case i needed to disconnect it in a hurry, maybe...
Well its not really a fair comparison as there is a huge age difference in the 2 engines but i own both a KZT Jeep and a 258 Jeep and i say the KZT is way better in every respect other than the obvious originality. and maybe the burble the 258 makes?.
But i am also very partial to a nice Diesel...
Dashboard required some extra cables for the engine light, rear fog light (which is required! here) one of my magic electronic 6 volt power units to run the fuel and temperature gauges.
If you read my posts on this little experiment you will know that it isn't quite correct but in my opinion...
If you know the geography of England then Halifax is in West Yorkshire which is in between Manchester and Leeds, bring a rain coat and some thermals if you are coming over in the fall (or spring or summer for that matter 😁).
Some progress today, if i get the time and the painter keeps up it should hopefully come together reasonably quickly, finding stuff is the most time consuming bit,i seem to have stuff everywhere.
Not sure on the number plate its a big lump, might get a motorbike one they are smaller and probably...
Received one very shiny painted tub and one very shiny painted dash panel, i can now crack on with putting it all back together again, hooray!.
There is of course the added joy of trying not to damage or mark the aforementioned shiny paint but its lovely to have her back in the workshop.
Hooray progress! 😁
If you aren't already aware then you need to wire the glow plugs in and give them a few seconds to warm up before cranking.
If they are still healthy plugs then it should fire straight up and without all the smoke.
There is a proper controller for them and a relay but i...
As I am installing a YJ windshield frame and wiper motor setup on this Jeep i set about seeing if i could make the YJ motor compatible with the CJ Wiring.
In the end i took the motor in bits to see how it works as i wasn't getting any sense just testing the wiring with a multimeter.
Glad i did...
