    Recommendation for Diesel Swap?

Not a lot of OM 602's over here. Mine was even more rare because it was a motor that was never imported with a "CE" pump, inner-cooled, and direct injected! This was the same motor used in the Unimog U100L (A VERY impressive piece of hardware). FYI" I took off the pan and cut a 45 degree slice...

    Recommendation for Diesel Swap?

Well you are going to have a problem here... The OM606 is a 6 cylinder engine and the OM602 is a 5 cylinder engine. So swapping out the pump will present a little bit of a problem regarding timing. Beyond that, Mercedes OM motors have multiple configurations that use both Bosch "P" pumps...

    Suspension Advice

I will be more than glad to... After the moderator adds a new section for "What are your other Rigs?" Honestly I am just looking at all components and options. Smaller rims and tires, with more travel and some kind of better dynamic compression with better turning radius???

Didn't need to. The motor was newer that the vehicle and the referee could not "rap his brain" around the technology. The motor was used for the USMC "fast attack" G-wagons ( German vehicle with "who knows" in it on the way to ruin your day). I got it from a testing lab in the original Mercedes...

Thanks for the input! I'm going to stick with the stage coach axles... Less moving parts. Speaking of which have you guys ever seen what a seized brake rotor does to a HummV driveline and suspension? Fricken spectacular!!! Like a land mine without power burn! Yeah, I was thinking coilovers, but...

    Suspension Advice

First of all let me apologist for not visiting/ posting for a long time. Sadly my CJ-8 named Mayahual (The Agave Burro) has not seen any use for her intended purpose as my small adventure rig for the last couple of years. However hopefully that will be changing soon, but first I want to do a...

What did you do with your Scrambler today?

Wednesday afternoon a buddy and I left for a quick overnight shake down trip in Mayahual. 225 miles with about 40% dirt double track. I feel that I'm "close" to having the correct static timing on the injector pump... But could not get my hyrometer to go over 925*F! Thus, its time to screw down...

What did you do with your Scrambler today?

I'm happy to say that I have finally completed the set of modifications to Mayahual that I started in early January. Here are the major changes: * Replace the Bosch electronic injection pump with a hybrid mechanical IP. * Rewire the engine bay (necessary due to removeal of the ECU and "rats...

    Strictly Scrambler Pics

Gosh you guys! I am so humbled by you're beautiful perfectly restored Scramblers. I have to admit I see Mayahual (the Agave Burro) as sort of a "Frankensteins Bride", getting modified at my slightest whim... AND NEVER looking PRISTINE! Because, that is the last thing you want in rural Mexico...

What did you do with your Scrambler today?

Well, not exactly only today, more like over the last couple of weeks... I designed and machined the mounting of the hydro-boost pump onto the Mercedes turbo-diesel (below the power steering pump) and mounted the hydro-boost with reservoir and return lines. Inside the cab is the new (to me)...

    Haggared 1986 Scrambler

That is my feeling exactly! The guy sayz that he plans to fix it up and put a V8 in it... but my guess is that it is just going to sit and rot. As much as I'd like another Scrambler "project", I think I'll just trick Mayahual more. This is the extent of the rust i saw, my Scrambler is worse...

    Haggared 1986 Scrambler

Well the guy was blowing "sunshine up my skirt"! It is an 1983 and there is some rust on the body and the windshield frame is really rotted. $3500 is starting to seem like a lot of money for a heap even though it is a Scrambler.

    Haggared 1986 Scrambler

I have found a Haggared 1986 Scrambler with a burnt-up motor (as in engine fire)for $3500! Should I buy it? I'm not concerned about the motor or drive-train because I have a complete Mercedes turbo-diesel/ wide range manual 5-speed to fit it with... I'm just on the fence!
