Thanks, I'm planning on doing the intake gasket because I can see some oil in the intake. I'm eager to get peoples feedback on what should be done on the stand vs. in the vehicle, as I will likely do a refresh/rebuild down the road as a winter project.
Is there a specific intake gasket I...
Had a big weekend Jeep project parts wise, I picked up a 2003 Chevy 5.3 LS (L59), it has 167K on it. Also got matching 4L60 trans and transfer case.
I don't want to tear into this too far before installing it, but I was told I should reseal to I don't have leaks. What do you think I...
Thanks, I filled the trench with spot welds so it will be closer to level. I then started painting the bottom of the tub with POR-15. Then I'll start body work. May try tiger hair followed by body filler.
Got the welding pretty much finished I think...
I'm prepping the bottom inside of the panel for POR-15 to seal it up now.
Rough ground down and did the backside:
My concern is if I have to much empty space in the flange joint to fill with body filler. Should I add weld dots here or try...
Should I attempt part of the body work myself?
Has anyone used a 'straight line air sander'? I heard online they can be tricky or require skill to use, but I can't find decent instructions on how to use one?
I hope in the end I feel like this was worth it! What do you think?
Putting this panel in is not a quick process and I'm only part way done. I do realize I'm attaching it to a already modified body, which is why it ended up a hair short.
It's the body filler step I don't feel great...
So the panel didn't line up perfect, it was a tiny bit short at the end, I also wasn't thrilled with the new panels Wheel arch, So I made a backing plate and welded the factory one back on.
Before burning in the new panel, I drilled holes to "spot weld" it on, Then I POR-15'd the open box and...
Hello, I'm back at work on the scrambler, I took some pictures of the new side panel and old.
First I cut and peeled off the old panel as I decided it wasn't good enough. Air chisel helped. This is partially the YJ front panel anyway.
Here's what I found:
I cleaned it up. Here are...
They don't have stock CJ brakes. But if you have a conversion you might be able to use them. My rear disc brake conversion uses Powerstop GM Metric pads for example. Check their website for other vehicles.
Hi Guys, I recently found out Powerstop used my Scrambler in a Ad. I was on their "Trail To SEMA 2017" video series and that's where the picture came from. I think it was taken in Sand Hollow, Utah- Where the next National Scramble will be.
If your interested in seeing a little Sand...

Did some more paint stripping on the Tub and started working on replacing metal where the roll bar mounts. I'll Por 15 the inside of the body and weld in the new plate. later I plan to try Eastwood's inside frame coating inside the rails of the tub and frame....
