    Bringing An Overlander Back Home

That made me sick. Just wow. How long ago was that? I would keep fighting that one. There is no way I would be able to let that go.

    Bringing An Overlander Back Home

Other than the top, the turn signals on the fenders instead of the grill, and being right hand drive, what's different? If it's still an amc 6 cyl with the same emisions stuff, why would they buck about it? It's basically just a right hand drive scrambler. The skyline GTR doesn't meet USA safety...

    Bringing An Overlander Back Home

This has probably been answered before. But of the 27,792 scramblers built, how many of them were exports?

Original paint '81 Scrambler. Go for it or run away?

I wouldn't bolt up a V8 to that trans. The bolt pattern may be the same. But if you notice the curved shifter, that is just a T4. Not exactly desirable. Being a 4 speed with a 4 banger I would imagine it has the 3.54 or more likely the 3.31 gears. As far as I know only the 4 bangers with the 5...

Original paint '81 Scrambler. Go for it or run away?

I wish I could have started with something like that. Looks very repairable to me based on the pics.

    Bringing An Overlander Back Home

That is ridiculously cool! I have friends and family near you in Dallas and I'm actually going in a month or so to buy a vehicle (not a Jeep). I'm sick of the rust so I'm going to buy something down there. If you have any interest in a meet up, shoot me a pm. I would love to see that thing in...

    My Blue Jeep

At this point I started pumping the grease into my newly installed zerk fitting. Then spun it a few times. Then put some more in. I did this until it started coming out. Then I shoved in more grease on the outside. Obviously under normal circumstances you would never need this much. This is...

    My Blue Jeep

I got new nuts to replace the damaged ones. Once you put in the outer bearing the smaller of the two washers go on first. Then proceed to torque the first nut to 50 ft lbs. Spin the rotor around a few times then back off the nut 1/4 turn. Then the big washer goes on along with the outer nut...

    82 Scrambler - rebuild

Just a side note. I noticed that you are going to run AC. The AC tensioner hangs really low and if you don't have a lot of lift, the differential will smack right into it. I have a 2.5 inch suspension lift and I had to lower the center bump stop AND add shims to the motor mounts to raise the...

What do Jeeps have to do with this...

Well.... In our case this past summer my oldest son decided to hide in my Jeep with a bucket full of those water balloons. Then attacked when I walked by with his younger brother. At least it was hot out. Lol

1983 Scrambler "STUMP JUMPER". Frame off, 5.3 Conversion.

I was responding to Boswellcj8s post about running on 33s on his Jeep. 4.10s with 31s like yours is a nice setup.

1983 Scrambler "STUMP JUMPER". Frame off, 5.3 Conversion.

5th gear in a T5 I believe is .86 and the final drive in a 4L60 is .7. That is about 1800 rpm at 70 mph with 33s. That's going to bog down the motor. 4.11 gears at 70 mph is about 2000 rpm. That's ok if you are somewhere flat. And 4.56 gears would be at about 2200 rpm. That's what I'm at with my...

    My Blue Jeep

This is where the grease is added. This cavity is where water likes to come in and get into your bearings. That dippy little seal in the above pic is all that is stopping it! So I pumped it full and rotated the axle, then pumped it up again and rotated. Lots and lots of grease! My bearings were...

    My Blue Jeep

Next mod is to the spindle. Drill it so the void between the axle and the spindle can be filled. I honestly have no idea how well this works. But I figured it was easy and cheap. So why not. After that I went on to installing the axle.
