After having a new 1981 engine installed I need some info on the Alternator wiring. (exciter wiring kit? for the alternator) Who sales them or how to build one? I have had issues over the years with this little Brown wire in the plug in headshell. when it is happy I have 12 volts at the volt...
Curious what others have done for their Ford E-Coil mount after swapping in a MSD 6AL ? For the first time in my life I let another person work on my Jeep. I needed a engine swap for a new one and didn't have a garage to work in at the start of Winter. It only took me 6 months to get back a non...
Next Item on trying to locate info or parts on 1982 smog pump with serpentine belt. Mine is a wobbly mess and doesn't look to well.
Thank you once again. Tom
I have a 4.2L that I swapped for a new engine. The old Harmonic Ballancer was worn out. The old engine had the Serpentine Belt setup installed, but you can no longer find anything listed as usable for our 4.2L engines? Are the 4.0L engines the same as the 4.2L ?
Thanks for any info.

You can't find just an off the shelf tail pipe that fits our rigs and I just had this crazy thought since you can buy these off the shelf. Has anyone ever measured the tail pipe for a AMC Eagle wagon?
They both run the 258ci engine. It would be nice to have a tail pipe long enough again and...
Hey everyone. It has been awhile since I have been on the sight. Things have been very busy work wise which is a good thing in this economy! I have been thinking of ways to get a bit more gas mileage out of my daily driver 81 CJ-8. We have been exploring Hydrogen HHO Brown gas fuel cells. Well I...
A buddy of mine was telling me about these things he drives by everyday to work. They are very nice rigs. I have an old hunting partner who had one and loved it.

Seems like a fun way to fix up a old Wrangler if you have the time and extra cash.
My lower steering shaft column bearing went out and I need to replace it. Has anyone done this repair yet and how hard is it? What do I need to look forward to when making this repair?? I have the original tilt wheel.
Thanks for any help on this.

I just across this event going on up in Wyoming. Wish I could make it. Wyoming is still a land that the 4wheel drive community has yet to really find out about. There are places that are still very much wild and the moto is "Protect yourself and your property"...
Hi Tom,
Sorry for taking so long to get back to you on the tickets for the COA4WDCI raffle Jeep. The best way to get tickets for the Scrambler is to go to the state associations website.

Out of curiosity, what do the proceeds for your...
Ok here is the deal. I am on my way home last night my brake felt really hard to push. Pretty much no power assist at all. Next issue. As I push the petal the engine starts to die. Like all the vacuum is going to the brake booster? I have never had to replace or work on one of these things. I...
I am kicking around the best cheap way to paint the old Jeep and repaint it as trail damage and fun happens along the way. I was wondering about tractor paint since that stuff seems to be made to take a beating. I'm not looking for a nice glossy paint job I can see myself a half of mile away in...
It felt so good to buy the Colorado Classic Collectors plates for the old Scramblers 25th Bithday I just had to say something! I have to say hands down this old Jeep has been the best vehicle I have ever owned. How many 81's on the board are changing over to Collector plates?

I thought some of you would like to check these videos out. What you might find yourself on while at the Nationals this June. These rigs are rolling 33"x12.50 tires or less on almost all these rigs. Also almost stock rigs as well. You will notice some of these trails are what we are listing as...
Just thought I would see if anyone else is driving via I-70 through the Colorado Rockies? I live in Boulder Just a little North of Denver and was curious if anyone driving slow wants to caravan over to Moab? I am driving my scrambler and expect my speed to be around 55mph for the majority of the...
I hope to not see my kids doing this. Or at least not before they have around 10 years of training first?
