Picked this up a few months ago. Was hoping it was a driver for the year or two that it was going to take me, to get the 46 done. That way I would have my fix of flattie, while working on a flattie. Came out of Cali, so kind of rust free, other than a few small sections. But when I got home and serviced the motor fluids, I found that slight ticking was more like a loud knocking. Seems PO had gear oil in the crankcase. Make a long story short, pulled the FHead to find number two rod bearing was razor thin. Rebuilt a second motor and all is good. Now it has new motor, 11 inch drums, brake lines complete from front to back and new 750/16 KM3's. She runs great, well for a F head. Taking it wheeling today for first time in NH.

The high hoods have really gown on me. Easiest CJ to identify as nothing else looks like them. I keep seeing people out enjoying their flatties and it makes me want to "finish" my 3a. How did the wheeling trip go?

The trip was pretty good. Started off kind of lame, but then we got into some pretty good trails. Mostly granite, boulders and ledges. Even found a old sand pit. Never thought those skinny KM3's would paddle in the sand at 20 psi, but be darned, they got right down to business and went pretty good. This little critter does very well for itself, even with open, open. I did not bring my GoPro with me, but if I can figure out how to steal it from another site, I will post it up. I have come to like this one very much. I even take it on milk and bread runs. ?
