For the 22nd annual Colorado Scramble. We are going to Silverton in '24. Its going to be as always the last month in July... July 24th-26th - '24. While Silverton isn't a hard place to wheel there are a couple trails that are above bone stock. Of course if you are open to help you'll be fine :-) . Also Silverton and area is, in my opinion, one of the most beautiful places in the world, bar none!

As for trails it will be the best trails in Silverton, in no particular order or day they may include:

Poughkeepsie Gulch
Ophir Pass
Imogene Pass
California Pass, Hurricane Pass
Animas Forks
Corkscrew Gulch
Miners Gulch Red Mountain mining district
Just to name a few, could be different.

I called and talked to Jim Lokey (<--SP?) from Red Mountain Lodge. He seemed happy to hear from me and had wondered what happened to all of us. Also his son still has his his Scrambler and will more than likely join us.
Red Mountain Lodge has a Hotel, Cabins and camping from tent sites to full hook ups. Its in a good location and has parking for trucks and trailers. He of course sait we're all welcome back. Obviously you can stay where ever you like.

This will be an awesome trip for folks that haven’t been to this area. We went in 2022 and had a great time running most of the trails above. We also ran Black Bear Pass and Engineer. Beautiful scenery. We all had 35” tires and were locked front and rear. Only place lockers were used was on “the wall” on Poughkeepsie. It’s an optional line with a well marked bypass.FAE71F80-4F45-44E0-AAE1-F2904EED52D5.jpeg50063EFA-7CAF-4353-8D55-4BC5D894CD06.jpeg

I already put these dates on the calendar for Sand Blast, but if that doesn’t work out this would be a great backup trip. This Colorado area has been on the bucket list for a few decades.

I doubt the San Miguel county sheriff will open black bear again. He kept it closed on the telluride side all season in 2023.

Has anyone made plans/booked their stay for this yet? Planning on being there and looking currently for lodging.

Also will it be sacrilege to have a none scrambler join me? Hard to fit my son, my dad and father in law in Pappy all at once :ROFLMAO:

I am going to try and make this one! If my wife and I can both get the time off work, we'll be there.

We were on the first one in 1998 in Silverton. (San Juan Scramble)

It will be nice to get back in my newly refreshed Scrambler.
Yep that was the San Juan Scramble put on by Harold Off and Mark Werkmiester... I went to a few of those before I started this one and moved it all around. It will be good to meet you and your family!

We booked a room at the Kendall Mountain Lodge. Looks like a pretty small room but it does have a window (some don't), bathroom/shower, mini-fridge and coffee machine. My wife liked it and the location. Anyone here have any comments on it?

I will likely have my F350 and car hauler. Will unload the Scrambler when we arrive and just use it. I will need a place to park them during our stay. Any suggestions? I will call the lodge tomorrow and ask too.

Thanks!

We have had our Scrambler since 1996 and are good friend with George who posted above. We have not been on this run before, but are considering coming out for CA. How many participants are expected? What kind of trails will be run? We have never had the Scrambler to CO, so will be fun to see the area. We live an hour from the Rubicon and have had the Scrambler on that trail over 100 times. Amazing how the old Scrambler gets so much attention vs a brand new built JL. Looking forward to meeting fell Jeepers.

Never know how many we'll have but there is a list of trail possibilities in the first post. The trails in Silverton are mostly scenic, Poughkeepsie being the hardest. Being that you do the Rubicon you'll have no issues. Look forward to meeting you.

Seems as everyone had an awesome time at the National, that is super awesome, hope all made to and from with no big issues. As with every year I very much look forward to seeing all that can make it this year in Silverton. Hope to see you there.
