Mark, Thank you for your email, I found the information about the M-240 very
interesting.

I was thinking that it might be interesting to move this conversation over to
www.CJ-8.com, what do you think?

I was in Hungary a few years ago and saw one, it looked just like the Storm
'Multi-purpose'. It was so strange to see a CJ-8 sitting there in Budapest. It
was clearly newer then 1986, and was clearly not a jeep, but yet so similar.
Yes, the top in this link is the same top as the postal
http://www.jed.simonides.org/transp...tries-ltd/storm_series/m-240/m240-intro.html.
I have also seen the "armored-Storm" on the news in Israel, but I was not
sure what it was. I would love to have a canvas top like the one in this link
http://idfmodelling.free.fr/refview.php?name=ref_veh_pictures/m240/m240_05.

About the rear door latch strike, that came up when I was thinking about
selling my top. The latch is not on the top, and it is not on the body either.
I'll try my best to explain. On each side of the opening of the tailgate, on
the inside of the jeep, there is a triangular piece of metal. I am pretty sure
that all CJ-8 have this. On the Alaskan Postal, there on the side of this
piece of metal is the rear door latch strike. The good news is that this
triangular piece can be removed as it is screwed down with star drive screws.
On the apposing side, this triangular piece is equipped with the dome light
switch.

Standard doors will not fit. In this link:
http://www.jed.simonides.org/transp...stries-ltd/storm_series/m-240/m240-intro.html
notice the square corners of the doors. As far as I know all other CJ steel
doors have rounded corners.

>Wow!! Switzerland I thought you were in Flag..... Well, let me just ask a
few questions. Do you remember where the rear door latch strike is, on the
hardtop or on the body of the Jeep?
>
>This makes for some unfortunate timing as there is postal hardtop on Ebay w/o
the doors. Of course I don't want to buy it w/o the doors unless I know
standard doors will fit. I had hoped you could provide some measurements.
Guess that ain't happening!
>
>Well, hopefully I can get together with you sometime and check out the top.
Even if you don't want to sell it I would like to see it. I've wanted a full
hardtop for some time (oh about 13 years). My scrambler came with a halfcab.
I got the softop shortly after and use it during the summer and the halfcab
during the winter. I can only imagine how heavy the full top is - the halfcab
is fairly heavy. I can move it by myself but I probably wouldn't try to put
it on alone. As you know it's like having two different vehicles it's so
different with a hardtop vs. a soft one.
>
>From the pics on Ebay I could see the window cutouts under the foam. Have
you seen pics of the Overlander? I suspect so but you may not have seen this
pic. Check out the Isreali military vehicle Storm-240.

>Here's the link - http://www.ael-group.co.il/AIL/stormmain.htm then click
VERSIONS at the bottom of the page.
>
>That has got to be the same top. I have been unable to find a good detailed
pic of this vehicle. It looks like a stretched YJ with a different grill. If
so the top should fit a CJ shouldn't it? Of couse, it might be difficult to
get one over here.
>
>I won't try to talk you out of the top. But a halfcab would be lighter and
easier to store! Seriously, if you decide to part with it please let me know.
If you chose not to that's great as well. I have really enjoyed my Jeep (as
you might can guess since I've had it so long). Although it was a little
tough living in Lake Havasu City for 6 years with a Jeep with no air
conditioning - YIKES!! I'm up in St George now and it's much more pleasant.
>
>When I mentioned long distance wasn't an issue that's when I thought you were
in Flag, I have a flat rate LD plan (I'm quite sure it does not include
Switzerland). So maybe we will stick to email unless something important
comes up. Do you know what the cost is to call from here to there?

>Check out the Storm-

Ben is right on about the rear door catch, I didn't even think about that in terms of what you'd need to get the top and rear door to work. I know that the door catch is not on a normal Scrambler, if the top doesn't come with one I bet you'd have to find one from something with a World Cab. I'd have to look, but it might be the same door striker as for the regular doors, actually I bet it is. You might be able to fab up something if you had another striker to use.

The front rake angle matches!!! I got a new wing window from Rubberhook here on the boards when I was at Oak Ridge and I'm sure it wasn't from a World Cab door, the rake and height are spot on. I didn't even think about the fact that they might be different when he offered it! Guess I was lucky.

I would say that pretty much assures that regular CJ doors will fit fine.
