Broken clutch question

Good morning:
I am wondering if I can get some guidance please. I have a problem with my clutch.
I was driving home last night, had just gone through a stop sign and was going up through the gears and heard a loud ping.
Immediately I lost my clutch – it went flat and was laying on the fire wall.
I have found the problem/issue. I looks like a support rod is bolted onto the side of the transmission (I have attached two photos)
The problem is that I have no idea what was there. Would anyone have a photo of the area that I am talking about.
Is the rod bolted straight into the side if the transmission or is the there some kind of bracket there?
Also the head of the bolts are ripped off and the remainder of the thread is still in the hole – is there a tool that can get the threads out??

There's an inner and outer support bracket that "hangs" the bellcrank. Your photos appear to show the two bolt locations for the inner support bracket. It is similar to, but not the same, as the bellcrank support bracket on the opposite side near the clutch push rod.

As far as removing the rest of the bolt, the only suggestion I have is penetrating oil, a drill bit and an "Easy-Out". After reinstalling a new support bracket, I'd check all the linkage and find out why it sheared the bolts. When was the last time you greased the zerk in the bellcrank?

I was unable to get a good photo of my linkage, however here is a link to the assembly. I believe you are missing the bracket #5 and possibly the rubber pieces.

The tool you need to remove the broken bolts is a screw/bolt extractor. Here is a link to some options.

It looks like you are just missing the broken bolts. An "easy out" would be the tool to use. That may be a tough one to get to with the exhaust in the way, you may want to pull the transmission or exhaust to get the best line on it. Use a small bit to get as close to center after you center punch it. You can adjust more to center on your second drill bit. Drill all the way through since you can get to the back and would help with removing if the easy out breaks. I would use penetrating fluid as suggested above and heat may even help. I used the kit with the complete linkage like this.

This is the fourth time I have replied to you all and the replie does not get posted - here goes again!!

Hi 4Miles – you are right I did need to pull the exhaust to get a straight shot with the drill
I was able to get the two bolts out using an “easy out” they came out pretty easy thank goodness.

FL8 – Thanks for the link It looks like I have #5 I have pulled it aside to get a better photo of the two holes.
I guess I just start putting it all back together now with the two new bolt?

MarknessMonster – Yes it is strange to have both bolt heads shear of like that.. I will need to educate myself on the zerk in the bell crank and grease it.
