I'm putting 5.7TBI motor, transmission, transfer case, and axles from my 1990 GMC V1500 Suburban in my 1983 CJ-8. It's going to be a wide track Scrambler. Anybody done this before?

The engine, trans and transfer case have been done many times in jeeps. I have a TBI 4.3, 700r4 from an 89 s10 and an np241C from an 89 suburban in mine. I would look into a SYE (slip yoke eliminator) from JB conversions. That will help your rear driveshaft length and angle. To keep the axles full width you will need to outboard the front spring mounts on the jeeps frame. The rear will just need new spring perches welded on.

I have a 350 TBI motor from an 1987 Chevy truck. Pulled the external engine parts from that motor and put them on a brand new Chevy roller-cam long block in 1998. Love it. Runs great, easy to work on and reliable. My axles are 1998 Dynatrac D44/D60. (not the newer "ProRock" type) Other specs in my signature and build page.
