Clutch Travel and Stiff Pedal

Project Penny clutch is not disengaging enough. PO had installed an automatic with a 232 engine, which is same block as 258. I thought putting a T4 would be simple with new, used T4, flywheel, cutch and pressure plate. The cutch pedal is not traveling enough to fully engage clutch, it doesn’t go into complete neutral. Have installed and checked twice and reaching out for assistance from this group. Thanks in advance for suggestions.

Just thinking out loud:

1) correct throw out bearing
2) clutch travel adjusting rod too short
3) clutch linkage loose/bent

Thanks @spankrjs, was thinking similar and have started thinking it is clutch, pressure plate from Oreillys. I actual found a review on Amazon from a CJ7 owner that bought the Amazon clutch after struggling with Oreillys clutch set being too stiff and bending shift fork. I ordered the $99 Amazon one to install because the Oreillys one takes a lot of effort to push in clutch pedal. Will see if this is issue or something different. Still open to suggestions, maybe third time is the charm.

I have been using NAPA clutches which are Luk brand. Have one in my Red and Green Scramblers, work perfect with light pedal pressure. I have also used Center Force clutches with equally good results, but probably overkill in a stockish CJ application

I used an O’Reilly clutch in my ’82 with a T-5, but that was almost 10 years ago. Product might have changed since then.

Take a close look at the linkage from the pedal on down. Several pivots with high wear possible. Mine, at 130,000 miles, were worn almost to failure. I installed rod end bearings at all of the pivots and now everything works perfectly. Good luck.

New clutch and pressure plate solved the problem. The pressure plate is too stiff for this application even though it was part specified by a big box auto store. Third time was the charm. Thanks all for the help.
Top is too stiff, bottom works.
