I am looking at electric power steering for EJ-8. I can’t find anyone who has done this before in an 8 or 7 but I keep coming back to this cj-5 kit and I can’t figure out why it would work in an 83 cj5 and not a 84 cj8. Any thoughts? I expect it won’t be bolt in but I assume it would be close.

Have you checked with EPAS, they have a custom kit as well.

Also, you may want to check with @mysunnshine here on the site, his shop is listed a a distributor/installer.

Thanks, I hadnt seen the Custom Build option on the EPAS site. This could actually work pretty easily if I source a second steering column. The shaft is already adjustable so if done right, I may not need to do much cutting. It would make for a pretty good mod for anyone with manual steering (not just EV conversions). Hmm....

Anyone have an extra column lying around they want to get rid of?

How much of the column do you need? I have a parts column on CL...

Someone needed just the top plastic part as theres was worn, so I sold the whole column to them for $100 and then he asked if I wanted the parts back, so I gave him $50 in trade parts... thus the pricing... so essentially the whole column minus the very top

Making some headway... Does anyone know which other vehicles share the same steering column? The EPAS tech is suggesting that the Scrambler shares the column with a 70-81 Camaro. Thoughts?

I used one of these Camero columns in my fiberglass CJ-7. It fit in place nicely, but I have no idea how it’d work for your build.

This might help with a list of vehicle that have the same lower portion of the column.
