Hey all - how do you feel about hammer damage to your harmonic balancers? I just pulled this off of my Jeep and, not knowing a TON about Harmonic Balancers, wanted to get your opinions on whether I should swap in a new one instead of risk reusing this one.

Also, have you ever seen them with Heli-coils installed? I've not pulled one of these before so I'm kind of a babe in the woods.

Thoughts?

It does look as if someone had the BFH in use to remove it. Also concerned with the helicoils - the tang is still on and they look long or incorrectly installed?
Get a new or used one, Rockauto have for $73 assuming it's a 258 - but it's a Chevvy according to your sig - so probably cheaper?
Check the bolts too - wondering if they are correct (long enough) with that tang still there.

After doing a little research I find that the engine came with an 8" instead of a 6.75" balancer and that now that it has been stroked to a 383, an 8" is suggested as the go-to size. So, I ordered a new one.

Just another part that likely was reused by the engine builder from what he pulled out of my Jeep but that I paid for new parts to which he probably returned and kept the money. Lovely.
