Headlight switch

Help! I continue to have issues with the quality of the stock headlight switch. OEM switches are almost impossible to find and all of the aftermarket copies are of poor quality. Has anybody found another type of headlight switch that has worked for them. I've given thought to changing the column for a newer style with column mount switches but that becomes complicated, with new keys, mounting hardware, etc. Any thoughts? As always, thank you in advance.

I agree that the aftermarket is poor quality for headlight switches. I went through a few. My dash lights only work on a very limited spot of the dimmer. I don't think there is a good solution other than to find a good original.

I used a relay for my aftermarket headlights. I think that is the only way to go to keep these cheap switches from burning up so quickly.

I'm on my third switch, so far. I took one of the aftermarket switches apart to find contacts that had different tensions on the central shaft. But worse than that was the potentiometer scroll on all three, which was of such poor construction that the contact, depending on the position of the dimmer, was not even touching. I see that Ididit offers a headlight switch that closely resembles the original. Just wondering about the longevity.

Makes stock headlights SO much brighter if you use quality wire. Maybe the cheap Chinese harness would help also, they say 16-18 gauge wire which they look like until you strip a wire and see it looks like 22 gauge with a ton of insulation to make it look like heavy gauge wire.

Gotta love the ingenuity of those chinee, bet the copper might be probably substandard too.
