Can you post a picture of the linkage?I have one on mine, 258/TF999 - no problems with kickdown
Thank you for the information. I need all the education on these transmissions I can get! I've had mostly manual transmissions or swapped GM drivetrains in my Jeeps. I really appreciate it.I know this is splitting hairs, but the TF999 does not have a kickdown linkage. It (like all Chrysler transmissions) uses a throttle valve lever. The linkage in question moves the throttle valve a proportional amount as throttle is increased until it has reached the full open position. This valve then increases the line pressure in the transmission causing the shift timing to change and affects the governor application (as well as increases the clamping force on the clutch packs). Proper throttle valve actuation is imperative as too much pressure can burn up the clutches and too little pressure can also burn up the clutches.
I was hoping to use the Holley Sniper on my 258 but according to Holley's website it will not work with kickdown transmission linkage. Has anyone found a solution to using the Sniper with the factor TF-999?
I can - give me a couple days - i just followed the workshop manual instructions and the auto transmission guidesCan you post a picture of the linkage?
Hi Mancunian. Just ordered the Sniper. Any chance you were able to get any pictures of the linkage? Thanks!I can - give me a couple days - i just followed the workshop manual instructions and the auto transmission guides
Thank you. I owe you one!Oh - and follow the directions in the manual to set the linkage - they are a little counterintuitive - words clamp and rod seemed mixed to me - but i figured it out in the end. Again if it works now you should not have to mess with it just b/c of the Sniper.
