Hood restoration

I have a cj8 hood that is in great shape with the exception of the front main crossmember is not connected to the sheet metal in the middle.
looks like the factory used seam sealer to attach it to the outer skin in the middle.
has anyone repaired this? and where do I start? 1 st thought was to clean off old sealer then apply new and clamp it back down somehow.
would love to hear what others have done.

I used Eastwood's seam sealer, lots of it. I did not clamp it just flipped the hood over and applied it.
