This Jeep Comanche (collect all the jeep mini-pickups!) is my current daily driver. It started life as a 1988 base model, 4banger, 4 speed, 2WD, with one option- power steering.

At 204K the 2.5L engine decided it was done, and I decided it would get to live on... I started a build: " Hayduke's Operation Comanche Repower - 88 To 98 Swap "

The Comanche would get a 1998 Cherokee Classic 4.0L, Auto, 4WD, wire harness, full driveline, lift, interior, doors, and custom bits. Here are some highlight pictures...

Engine was stripped to long block and looked good, so cleaned and rebuilt with all new gaskets, seals, and old wear items replaced.

Old 2.5L was removed....

Comanche firewall was modified to accept later model steering, and drivetrain, etc... inside and out...

Dashboard was test fit, before sealing and paintwork......

Comanche Engine compartment prepped for engine, and wiring harness installed. (did I mention I like to paint..haha )

Very nice!

2, proofread and cleared by the NSA.

Awesome stuff. ILove these trucks too. And yes they are the last collectible jeep trucks. I have an 86 that still gets 30 plus mpg. Great rigs!

That turned out awesome...I like the newer style front end from the XJ's on the Comanche too. Makes them look more modern on the outside. Any plans to do that on yours?
