New brand spanking new ?I ordered the R2.8 from Quickdraw. They really have very little knowledge about the swap so I'm a bit dubious.....I think this is going to be a painful journey.
No insult intendee but do you get that warranty even though you install it yourself??? thats not badBrand spankin'. 2 year/2400 hour warranty
That's actually incorrect, from my understanding. They are MARKETING it as a "repower" but it was actually designed and developed to be the diesel option for the Nissan Frontier a while back. It never went to full production, and Nissan only ever launched the 5.0 Cummins in the Titan after assessing market demands for diesel trucks, figuring that a diesel "mini truck" wouldn't sell as well as the full size seeing how the 3/4 tons dominated the field at the time. Cummins then took all the R&D (and possibly castings they already had in mass) tweaked the packaging and marketed it as a crate motor instead. Luck for us they did, I suppose. Now if they just had a Harbor Freight coupon for them....You do. The R stands for replacement. Cummins built it intending it be a motor to replace other motors.
There's a guy here............@Rosco1974Well, the '8 lives. Got the top on, wife scrubbed/cleaned out the floor inside, got the new seats installed and the spare tire rack and tire back on. Drove it to our PO Box and it ran great after 10 months. Just need to order a new tool box and a tailgate seal and it is basically done. Always some small nitpicky items to do, but I am happy with the way it turned out. Pictures to come later of the completed deal.. Next major deal is rebuild the circa 1974- 8274 winch I have to rebuild and mount on the front for a very correct rig...![]()
This may be a good resource for some information, they built a CJ8 with the R2.8.I ordered the R2.8 from Quickdraw. They really have very little knowledge about the swap so I'm a bit dubious.....I think this is going to be a painful journey.
Oh good lord, it's so prettyHere are the pics.
Not sure. The can I had from when it was redone in '99 called it Alfa Romeo Slate Blue Poly. My guy ended up taking the glove box door off and using it to get the match made as we didn't paint the inside dash, etc as it didn't need it...Oh good lord, it's so pretty
What's the paint code?
