Location of temp sensor

On the 258 engine where is the temp sensor located? Anyone have a picture of it in the stock position?

On my engine it is at the front of the engine next to the thermostat and connects to an additional aftermarket meter. The stock temp gauge is not connected up. At this location I read 220 degrees on my gauge. I'm thinking this is not normal.

The stock temp gauge sender is on top of the head, at the rear near the firewall, on the left side/corner. I believe the wire running to it is "normally" purple.

That's where mine is, too. No additional meter, but my sensor is there.

With the early model 258's, the temp sensor was next to the thermostat housing.
