Old to new 4 link

So back in '15 I finally did a 4 link in the rear of my Scrambler. Well Christmas this year I went wheeling in Socorro, NM with some Pals and I ripped my rear truss for my upper control arms off trying to clime a ledge that's about 9-10ft with a fairly nasty undercut. My pal Terrell in his TJ buggy went up it so I followed, well tried...lol. Later I found out that 2 of the buggies in our group took the by-pass??? Great... The drive shaft also ripped the 1350 straps in half and my drive shaft came out at the bottom - Yay :-) It was a blast of a day just the same. SO after this long story I'm rebuilding it all and have re-trussed my 14 bolt and am stretching the wheel base 11 inches! And I have a set of those 43 inch Mickey Thompson Pro XS's on the way. Note in the Pic's that Clayton Off Roads welds broke not mine on the axle  To thier credit however they did send me a new Truss, I am just not using it - I went with Artec's Short Truss and then used the upper link part of the old truss instead of spending extra dough, plazzed out some gussets and welded it all up.

Thought I'd share the rebuild here as some showed interest the first time around... Still lots to do but here is some pic's of the first build and then the break and then what I've done so far... Still have to box in the frame, weld in the new perches, cut the fender wells and build the inner wells - build shock mounts etc... Still lots to do!

OK
I am always a bit leery of butt welding anything structural. Unless properly done it doesn't fully fuse the material. Your new truss looks super beefy though!

Oh I'm not in the least worried about my welds, it was Clayton Offroads welds that came apart 😉 And there was NO penetration at all - In fairness to them I have to say that they did send me another Truss and it was supposedly welded by Clayton this time, But I didn't plan on using it again. It would prolly be fine with some gusseting but I'm not going to trust it again.

Here I got the frame boxed back in where I cut it to long. I didn't get As Much wheel base as I wanted - I would have had to Comp cut the back and I didn't want to do that. Not a fan of the look, yes extremely functionable, but not my thing. Then I got the Frame plates in that my pal Todd sent me, cut them for what I needed and did some major frame cleaning up and got them welded on. Got my upper spring perches in place and fully welded.

Then started the wheel well rework - so far it has turned out fantastic, I got some great cuts shaping them I decided to keep a bit more of the stock body parts and the front half of the fender wells is staying in place and I'm going to move the back half back keeping the rounded wells, Its looking super awesome. Then I did the inner wheel well tuck in the front and will do the same in the back before moving them back and filling the middle with sheet steel.

I also cut the rear part of the fender flare (that I made and welded on Long ago) off, it will go back on and AI have steel on the way to fill the middle of that also - Its gonna look cool!

And a REALLY awesome development on my new tires!!! So Its been a couple months and I had the shipping and fulfilment director of Micky Thompson on the phone and we were discussing the issue and how its effecting not just me but others, they were telling my yet ANOTHER 6 weeks for the 42 inch Baja Pro Xs's (what I bought). Long story short after a bunch of phone calls with him and National Wheel and Tire, who I bought them through - He texts me the next day and tells me that they are going to sent me the Baja Pro X's instead - the competition Stickies for NO extra Charge!!!! An 816$ difference - I'm still in disbelieve, but dang happy about it!!!
