Friends in town for the long weekend. Perfect excuse to pack the arteries, so I made it a bacon-themed Labor Day weekend.

Started off with a bang and made a bacon explosion for Friday night:

Then served it with mashed potatoes with bacon bits, and salad with bacon bits and bacon ranch dressing.

We then topped the garlic bread with bacon cheddar slices:

Next day, we went to Zingermans deli for lunch, got a sandwich with bacon (no pic dammit) and then had this for dessert, it absolutely was the best chocolate I've ever had:

While we were there, we got two pounds of Hungarian Double Smoked bacon for another weekend project:

Walking around Ann Arbor, I found these, they're actually really damn good:

for dinner that night, I made cheeseburgers with this right in the patties:

and topped them with more of the cheddar bacon slices:

and used the double smoked slab bacon cut real thick to make praline bacon (pecans and brown sugar topping):

For dinner Sun night, we were in Frankenmuth and went to the Bavarian Inn. We got the Ultimate family style meal with fried chicken, smoked pork loin, marinated roast beef, bratwurst and schnitzel. Again though, forgot the pic dammit.

continued...

and to finish off the weekend, Monday morning I cooked eggs and hashbrowns and fried up the leftover bacon explosion:

Make a bacon explosion yourself! It's really simple and quite cheap compared to similarly mouthwatering cuts of meat when you get right down to it.

For this one, I only used two packages of thick-cut bacon, just over a pound of loose sausage, rub and bbq sauce. That's it.

I started reading this about an hour ago. My arteries slowed down so much that I'm just now finishing reading it! It sounds like the diet for Jabba The Hut.

Oh my. My mouth won't stop watering...I think I might have to make a bacon explosion this weekend. There are frozen angus burger patties that we get from Kroger that have bacon and cheddar inside; we usually top them with those same cheese slices. We had to stop buying the pre-cooked bacon slices because Brendan would eat them for breakfast...and that's all he would eat...a plateful of bacon. Also, the local natural meat market/butcher makes a killer ham loaf. I'm eating leftover peppercorn encrusted pork loin for lunch right now...

My daughter is addicted to bacon. She even has bacon bandaids and earings, etc. Don't ask me, I like the stuff, but I am not crazy over it. I had to show her this post. She loved it.

And we went to the Bavarian Inn last year and had the same meal. Frankenmuth is a pretty neat little place. We enjoyed our trip around Michigan. Thanks for sharing your weekend of indulgence.

Your daughter sounds like me :)

Bavarian Inn is a winner, no doubt. Frankenmuth is a riot.
