Yup, I'm back...been quite a while, nice to see a lot of the old Scram-Fam still active. I've been out of the game for quite a while, so I'll quickly catch up. Recovered from my bout with cancer, relocated to OH, job started to go sideways but recovered, built a shop, job went WAY sideways and I got let go about 8 months before the company went under (long, sordid tale), was unemployed for about 9 months, new job was pretty good but major element (pay vs. amount of work I was doing compared to everyone else) stunk, so I bailed when another opportunity came up and have been at the new job for 3 years now (IT at a Vo-Tech high school...pay isn't great, but there's almost no stress & no demands on my time outside of work hours). Vacationed in St. Croix last Summer and we fell in love with the place & decided we would work on relocating in the next 5-10 years. My father passed unexpectedly in February and between him & my mother, left my sister & I a decent inheritance, so we decided to speed up our plans. Toward that end, I decided the adult thing to do was to pull the plug on my existing Scrambler, Jeepskate II/XL as it was just too much for where we're heading and I bought a nearly stock '83 Scrambler to resto-mod into a cruiser (Anders, who did all of the tube work on Jeepskate II/XL is buying it from me, so it will live on in some form). This will not be a drawn out affair like my previous builds, so I have to break with some of my cheapskate/jeepskate ways and crack open the wallet...this is further fueled by our return trip to the island over Thanksgiving where we put an offer on a house which is now under contract. The kicker: the bottom level is a garage/workshop that's almost as big as my outbuilding...pretty much unheard of on the island and I lucked out that my wife fell in love with the house (2 master suites & a custom gourmet kitchen). The plan is to move Summer 2019.
