SCAM ALERT: DO NOT EMAIL ABOUT PARTS OFF FORUM

I've been alerted to a scammer running around PMing people who have posted in classified/wanted threads to email "Hayduke" about matching parts that he has for sale. The "referrer" isn't Hayduke, but a new member with very few posts here. The email does not belong to Hayduke but is set up with his name and he claims to be from where Hayduke is.

I believe that they chose Hayduke because he's not been on the forum since Feb. so the cover story works.

They have come up with a clever scam here that's trying to get people to email directly to set up payment rather than use the forum PM system. If you ask him about using/replying via PM he will say he's lost his forum login and ask you to venmo/paypal money for the part. He'll grab a photo off the internet to represent the part in question.

DO NOT SEND MONEY to anyone requiring you to converse off the forum. Please alert bigwalton to any activity like this ASAP!

I have banned the referrer but with this type of &$&#$#@ it may not be easy.

You know it really is getting harder to have faith in people. I don't know how these folks can live day to day knowing the hurt they have caused.

Some cultures don't see stealing as wrong/immoral. Facebook is rife with scammers, and almost all of them are in cameroon.

Best bet is to not send anyone money via any source other than a credit card unless you know the person personally. We have a close knit group here but even so, this particular scammer posed as one of our own to scam people.

If in doubt, don't send money!
