My wife’s YJ build started out as a transmission repair to the AX5 on her daily driver. But after some discussion, a SBC350/SM420/231SYE was installed.

Axles and suspension were next. Front is a 3-Link Dana 60 on coil overs with hyd. assist steering. Rear is a Dana 60 stretched with XJ springs and way-back shackles.

After mock up "looked" right, disassembled for welding and paint.

Since we tore apart her YJ, she needed a new daily driver and got Rubi. She wanted just a little lift on it, a bit bigger tire, and I got her bumpers and fenders.

Dang, you're going to be popular around here!

That '47 is cool... I'd like to have a classic driver like that someday.

Thanks! The ‘47 is fun. We take it all over in Lamoille NV, and the hill in Wells NV and Mammoth CA. It’s currently under the knife. I planned on replacing the tie rods this winter but when I got into it I found a pretty big mistake a PO had made. The bellcrank mounting bracket, see diagram, was modified by welding a bolt to it, pictured, instead of replacing the shaft. 5922488D-0867-4DEB-AD60-520E3273DA98.jpg F187FB7F-053F-4DC4-8955-2438851AE187.jpg
Any hard bump or curb shot with the new, tight tie rods could snap the bolt and bracket. So, the front end is blown apart now, but I’ll get it put back together before spring.

Nice collection. I'm sure there is a good story to go with the wife;s YJ demise.

Not a “good” story with the YJ, but long story short: We packed up the rolling chassis and took to a shop to double check some of my suspension work. It was my first build, and I did it in the driveway. We did a bunch of research on the guy and his small business, and he had, in the past, built and competed in several Offroad events all over the west. Got there with the Jeep and he had a Commando getting a JK suspension, a TJ getting a back half and 4-link, and a second TJ getting linked front and rear. Seemed legit. After several months of promises and “hard times” we, all the Jeep owners, had to get police involved to get our rigs back and large sums of money and parts were lost. I suppose I’m a bit fortunate as my rig was one that could continue as a build. The guy with the Commando scrapped the project and the TJ was so messed up other shops wouldn’t touch it and it ended up totaled.
