Vintage Jeep Photos

I love to see old Jeep photos from the '60's, '70's, and '80's back when these old Jeeps were "new" and original or have "vintage" accessories (old wives and girlfriends count in this thread!). It is hard to find cool pics online from a time before digital photography. I've found a few. Post up any you have found or any you might be in yourself! This should be entertaining.

My first Jeep ride (I'm the skinny kid behind the passenger seat) circa 1975

Cool idea Josh!

This is a digi pic taken of my original 1974 Jeep brochure...the green/white Pioneer package on the J10 is how my J20 was originally built

This is from one of the biggest jeep club cruises ever. This was Hinkle's Jeep Club going from Pickens, SC to Pigeon Forge, TN. I think the total count was like 1500 or something.

Not sure how new the Jeep was at the time. My grandfather's the one on the left.

It doesn't sound that long ago or that "vintage", but this was my first Jeep when I was 18 and was 17 years ago already. It was stock when I got it. Put a 2.5" lift and 33's on it. It was a 1979 with a 304 and 3 speed.

Side note, lurking in the barn that you see was my dads 1978 or '79 1/2 suburban with the 454 and rare silver with honolulu blue stripe down the side. They only made 1/2 tons with the 454 for three years if I remember right. That was a cherry ride. Only used to pull a travel trailer in the summer. He sold it maybe 10 years ago with just over 100,000 miles on it.

Since there was a picture of Ronny in his blue '83 CJ-8, here is one of him working with his 1962 CJ-6 as well.

IIRC, someone from here wrote them a letter pointing out the error on the year in that article.

The one place I sourced my info from on the internet is wrong? Next you'll be telling me wikipedia can't be trusted either.

My life is over. thanks everyone..

You might want to let the editors of JP know they have it wrong then.

Sure, blame it on the editors of JP. :)

Oh, those guys at JP missed the subtle differences in the first Scrambler introduced in 1981. The first indication is visible in the original picture previously posted showing the small notch in the hood on the driver's side (only found on early 1981 models).

Also, the following picture clearly shows Narrow-track axles when viewing the rear wheel depth inside the fender extensions.

Also, JP's article noted the 1981 option SR4 tranny, and the uniquely curved gear shift is visible in the following picture.

This last picture is a pretty good shot of an 8" chrome wheel. Although these 8" chrome wheels may not be exclusive to the 1981 model year, they are still a pretty good clue to conforming with or confirming the other '81 characteristics.

Also, an additional picture from the JP article shows a close up of the windshield frame, and I believe that the '81 model may have been the only one that didn't include the horizontal structural rib near the wiper locations.

JACKPOT BOYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I knew that I had these on my computer. More pictures from the Hinkle Days. Some of these are from the same cruise to Pigeon Forge as I posted before but the others are from a big cruise that they had to Myrtle Beach.
