WT CJ rear 44 will be too narrow for a narrowed J10 44 front. It will be good for a narrowed Wagoneer 44 though.
Scout 44s are ok but have small/weak tubes. The brake parts are hard to find and very expensive.
The ford explorer 8.8 is a good option with great availability and drum or disc...
I have the Wolfe steering column bearing, Borgeson shaft, MORE relocation steering box mount, PSC big bore box and pump with hydraulic assist cylinder. The cylinder does reduce steering effort offroad. It greatly reduced play and any shimmy on road as well. My 8 steers like a modern vehicle...
The engine, trans and transfer case have been done many times in jeeps. I have a TBI 4.3, 700r4 from an 89 s10 and an np241C from an 89 suburban in mine. I would look into a SYE (slip yoke eliminator) from JB conversions. That will help your rear driveshaft length and angle. To keep the...
Did the seller state what the axles were from? Front looks to be a dana 44 from likely a Chevy. Chevy used a spring over axle setup just like this from the factory, so it should be fine. Only difference between mounting in the Chevy pickup and a Jeep is the width of the leaf springs.
Interesting timing seeing this at the top. Last week my friend in Dallas bought a complete 3.0 Duramax with the 10 speed. He is analyzing the PCM to see what it will take to run on the bench/standalone. Then he will look at integrating with his TJ. If he can figure it out, I will probably...
Does the company you work for make roll cages for CJ7s or any similar jeeps? As you have probably seen there are no real options for full cages for the CJ8. The A pillar is basically the same for the 7/8 but the B and C mounting points and spacing are different.
I built a family style cage...
Personally I wouldn't put a lunchbox style locker in the rear of a primarily street driven vehicle. If you need more traction, put the lunchbox locker in the front. It will be invisible on the street and will really improve your climbing ability off-road.
Then I would save and get a Detroit...
The 241 is preferred to the 208 for a couple reasons. The 241 has a better low range 2.72 vs 2.61 of the 208. The biggest in your situation is that you can install a JB conversions slip yoke eliminator and really shorten the overall length. My 4.3/700r4/241C (with slip yoke eliminator) has a...
Do you still have the 241C? Is there a reason you want to use the Dana 300 vs the 241? I have a 241C in my 8 behind a 700r4. I really like it, not that the 300 is a bad choice either. The 241 has more front driveshaft clearance and shifts much nicer. It also use factory parts to attach to a...
Been busy with continued home and Jeep projects. The PSC is fully installed. Made a huge difference. The steering is extremely tight now. It can be a bit twitchy at speed but is much more stable in bumps and such.
My helper and I swapped to my new to me racelines. I bought new bolts and...
Yes, the EFI will compensate for elevation to calculate the A/F ratio. Of admittedly lesser impact is that with less atmospheric pressure you can (probably should) run more advance with the timing to help with the decrease in power with elevation gain. The computer will make base adjustments...
Does the Sniper/Hyperspark system adjust timing for elevation? That is pretty important in the upper elevations of the Rockies.
The only thing I didn't see specifically listed that I needed for my TBI swap was crank signal. The sniper may be different than a GM TBI but I needed a crank...
Looks great! Swapping out/installing axles in a TJ is a bit more work than our old leaf sprung vehicles. I sure hope our children have fond memories of the time we spend working together on projects like this.
I like that they use factory/readily available parts. That said, a friend had issues with a new kit from them. We were in changing parts purgatory for 3-4 months. At that point they wanted us to replace parts that were already replaced before multiple times. To their credit they accepted the...
This will be an awesome trip for folks that haven’t been to this area. We went in 2022 and had a great time running most of the trails above. We also ran Black Bear Pass and Engineer. Beautiful scenery. We all had 35” tires and were locked front and rear. Only place lockers were used was on...
Well parts have arrived and projects have started. I decided on and received Dutchman 4340 replacement front axles. 3 out of 4 were standard off the shelf parts and were delivered in a couple days. This winter I will pull the front apart and replace the stock shafts.
Next was a load of PSC...
