Hey everyone..!
So I replaced replaced the Key Cylinder, and once it was all put back together, I noticed that the cylinder I got as an auxiliary key "on" position on the other side of "OFF", that the original did not have. I DO NOT WANT THIS! I have seen batteries drained more than once when...
Nice access hatch!
My fuel pump is the original from HESCO. I was told they are very tough and reliable. Which brand/type of pump were you using that had to be replaced frequently?
So you ran two electric pumps simultaneously?
Yes, if I move it to the passenger side, I'll update on how it goes. In fact, I'm planning to give my Scrambler new phase of build coming up soon. It'll be the 3rd iteration... Best version yet, maybe!
Hey I was noticing your handle "High Sierra".. I met a guy with a Scrambler once years ago when I was driving mine up through the Lone Pine, Big Pine, Bishop area.. Maybe that was you?
Thanks for the info! In my case (a) I really dislike dropping the fuel tank and (b) I go over-landing for days sometimes, in remote areas with a spare parts kit. I really like ease of serviceability. Also, it seems too much heat going into the fuel delivery system can happen at multiple...
Question,
When you re-routed to passenger side, I'm assuming you moved the external pump to the passenger side as well..? Did it still get too hot even thought it was no longer directly above the exhaust?
WOW...! Thank you for this information. I have the same setup a you describe (Mopar/HESCO). This saves me a lot of time and work! I was planning to re-route to the passenger side, but now I won't bother! I can further validate your solution in that it's my *fuel pump* that starts to get noisy...
When putting a 4.0L head on a 258, the fuel lines are usually routed close to the exhaust, creating a vapor lock problem in warm weather.
Does anyone have experience with solving vapor lock with a shield kit like this...
Update, they are saying it is designed to improve torque and power across the rpm range, even on a stock 4.0. And can perform even better on a 258 block with MPFI.

Anyone used this on either a 4.0 or a 258?
I'd be putting it on my 258 with MPI. "More flow" probably won't make a difference on a 258? Some say opening it up...
I ran this setup for awhile, and the head failed due to valve recession after ~10 years, but the plugs were fine!
My concern is longevity/reliability. I know these plugs lasted for me before, but can they go 200-300k miles? Does any know of them ever failing (assuming they were installed...
And, does anyone have experience with the Edelbrock Aluminum head!? https://www.summitracing.com/parts/edl-50169?seid=srese1&ppckw=pmax-jeep&gclid=CjwKCAiA4KfLBhB0EiwAUY7GAWEAMEPHiGaK2u0jfkBE7poo87tw0ESHfPn9RfIVEiSVWuP_6EDOthoCqv4QAvD_BwE
My priorities are:
(1) cost / ease
(2) reliability/longevity. (4.0's can go for 300k miles!)
(3) Runs well and good mileage
(4) Power / torque - I was pretty happy with my 4.2/4.0headMPI. Maybe a bit more power on the highway would be nice, but not a big priority.
A straight 4.0 seems to be...
Thanks for the suggestions guys. Right now it looks like the issue is that I got the head from Clearwater Cylinder Heads, and they are garbage. I was told the head would arrive a certain way, and it didn't. And they would not make it right. The head was warped and by machining if flat, some...
After having valve failure issues three times, and not knowing why, all the mechanics and the rebuild shop just want to keep fixing it. I want someone to figure out why it's failed three times, and make sure it won't happen again. I want engineering not guesswork. How do I find someone who can...
